College student organizations are asking President Trump to suspend the H-1B visa and OPT programs while nearly 40 million Americans are jobless due to the Chinese coronavirus crisis.
In a letter to Trump obtained by Breitbart News, 30 college student organizations request that the OPT program be ended and the H-1B visa program be suspended to reduce white-collar labor market competition against American graduates seeking STEM jobs.
“We are writing to you today on behalf of concerned graduating college seniors and young professionals nationwide,” the college student organizations write:
Specifically, we ask you to immediately take action to rescind the work authorization of hundreds of thousands of foreign, nonimmigrant skilled guest workers in order to ease the economic suffering of American college students and recent graduates looking for meaningful employment in these trying times. Made worse by the coronavirus economic crisis are the hundreds of thousands of nonimmigrant guest workers in the United States. These guest workers – and especially those in the OPT and H1B programs – take jobs temporarily at wages far below the average for their positions. This is because employers can easily pay these guest workers less than they pay Americans. This is not right. [Emphasis added]
As Breitbart News reported, the OPT program ensures that corporations like Amazon, Google, Deloitte, and Intel can continue to hire thousands of OPT foreign workers over American STEM graduates every year at a 15 percent discount. In 2017, alone, Amazon placed nearly 2,400 OPT foreign workers into white-collar STEM jobs that could have otherwise gone to American graduates.
Likewise, there are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements, as highlighted by Breitbart […]

1) Enforce labor law that states you cant discriminate against job applicants on national origin.
2) Send them all back to India.
This is so surreal. I have been discriminated so many times, IN MY OWN COUNTRY, for being an American, as an IT worker. I just had an interview with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan with 3 Indian guys. All they did was ask me a couple of technical questions that where impossible to answer. Just to get me off the phone so they could say they could not find a qualified candidate. I had more experience than all 3 of them combined. They do this so they have a green-light to hire their buddy from high school in India.
These foreigners could shut this country down at will, at any time. Of course I am a racist if I point this out.
The Chamber of Commerce and the Multinationals are very disappointed with the questions.
I hope Trump listens. AMERICANS FIRST! CORPORATIONS LAST.

It is disgusting that corporations that put American workers last get the benefit of being treated as American corporations.
Sorry American college students your birthright opportunities for American jobs have been given to Indians as Trump has put Indians ahead of Americans for American jobs. Especially IT jobs.
I don’t even buy that they are that cheap anymore. I left a data center today in Johns Creek Georgia and driving down roads that had neighborhoods with 300,000-$400,000 houses in them I saw nothing but Indians walking up an down the sidewalks of those roads. Disgusting.

OPT is at least a year behind in reporting its numbers, but by 2018 it had increased by 20%.
Trump claimed he stopped H1B spouse visas, but, obviously, he knew someone would (and did) file a lawsuit, so no progress there.
Also, if a regular H1B gets sponsored by his employer for a Green Card, that H1B no longer counts against the quota.
Under Trump, there is like a 15 year backlog of Asian Indian H1Bs waiting for a Green Card. It was a ten year wait under Obama.
There is bi-partisan legislation pending in Congress to Amnesty all the H1B Asian Indians on the Green Card list, and Trump has never said one negative word about that bill.

It will happen very soon. This is going a lot faster than I thought it would.
The Indians have basically taken over the complete recruiting and hiring process for IT workers in basically all major institutions in the United States of America. This was not true 3 years ago.
You’re right - these foreign workers aren’t cheap anymore. They’ll just accept far longer work hours than Americans, who expect evenings, weekends, and vacations.

Sure - and this isn’t just tech anymore. Here in the NYC metro area they’re importing Asian scabs to eliminate Americans from the financial sector as well. Many Americans I know over 50 have been replaced by Asians who have a fraction of the experience.
