Well, this is what you get when you allow an impossible situation. We have sovereign nations within another sovereign nation! It doesn’t work!

Here’s what has to happen with the “tribes.” Choose one: 1) independence, 2) full and unqualified American citizenship. Cannot have both. With independence, there have to be borders, a different currency, different military, different president, different congress. With citizenship all special privileges go away, and the “tribes” are dissolved, and the members are American and have to drop the moniker “Native American.”

Got to happen! but obviously won’t! Victim status is easily monetized.

It’s interesting to think about the Indian reservations and the status of members of those tribes. American Indians are American citizens and they are not required to live on reservations.

Perhaps we could say they get the Best of Both Worlds. They are American citizens and are allowed to live anywhere in America. On the other hand they are members of a tribal Nation within America. Some tribes have done very well for themselves with setting up gambling and Resort facilities on their reservations.
