The problem for Biden is that all his potential V.P. picks have lots of baggage. Not as much as Joe himself, but they have plenty.

Willie Brown was the most powerful person in the California Legislature. He was 30 years older than Kamela Harris (It should be noted at that time she was extremely attractive and relative to her age today is also most attractive.) Willie Brown was also married but Harris was not at the time.

I think that’s the wrong way to look at it. Nominating her is less a matter of trying to harness some special connection she has with black voters than a matter of him formally recognizing that black voters had, and continue to have, an essential place in the party.

True. He's also backed into a corner, committed to picking a woman and all but committed to picking an African-American. It's surprising, though, that Warren has a following among Latinos and African-Americans. I would have thought that she was just the sort of annoying White woman who would turn off people of color.
