You might say that the English Channel created England. The English Channel enabled England to maintain its independence from Europe and develop a somewhat different culture. For example, the English legal system (which we Americans inherited) is different from the European civil law system.
Militarily, the English Channel served as a natural moat that protected England from more than one invasion. Napoleon himself declared, Let us be masters of the Channel for six hours, and we are masters of the world. But he was unable to do that.
And yet, if the current inhabitants of England (and the rest of the United Kingdom) want the Channel to continue to be an asset, theyd better get control of it now, because in 2020 theyre losing control of it.

We Texans did not build a “Chunnel” under the Rio Grande.
“We Texans did not build a Chunnel under the Rio Grande.”
Yes, and it’s a great thing that you didn’t!
They are GD lucky Hitler didnt follow through on his plans.
And nearly ALL the elder Brits still alive who experienced that time say the same thing. Right after Dunkirk..
Texas Parks & Wildlife needs gator restocking funding for the river. To bring it back to normal habitat status.
The English Channel is Englands Rio Grande and the French navy serve as their Coyotes.
The British made history fighting Germanic Barbarians off and later the Goliath in Hitler’s military machine in the battle of Britain (even though Hitler made monumental strategic mistakes). Now,the Islamic barbarians take a nice leisure cruise right into England. The young Brits are bloody f-ing idiots!
Muslimisation of Britain continues.
Yes, Britain had better get control of the channel very soon.
And they had better find and deport the illegals with a passion.
The word “Rio Grande” prompted a memory of Lalo Guerrero’s classic ballad.

LOL! Funny and non-PC. Hang on to that, couldn’t be recorded today.
I wish the Rio Grande was as wide as the English Channel, it would have saved us a lot of trouble.
The Chunnel tunnel with its high-speed rail connection is not a conduit for illegals. It’s a really nice way to travel in-between London and Paris or Amsterdam
Hitler didn’t have plans to invade the UK. He considered them a brother Germanic nation, one of the superior race.
There was no way the Germans could invade the UK - the Luftwafe tried but failed.
They could have, at best, bombed a lot of cities and cut off trade with the U-boats. And they tried that.
The same with WWI - the Germans could at the most use submarines to cut off trade with the islands.
The same with Napoleon and his “continental system” which aimed to block off trade with the UK — but this hurt the subordinate nations like Sweden and Russia so they turned on Napoleon
“Germanic” barbarians? The British or rather the English ARE Germanic....
“Hitler didnt have plans to invade the UK.”
Right there is where you failed in your statement.
You havent a clue.
Sorry, but while I was wrong to not put a timeline around that, you are incorrect.
Hitler, until the fall of France had NO plans to invade England. He felt them a brother Germanic nation and one that he would get on his side.
Only after the Fall of France, was operation sea Lion planned on the 30th of June 1940.
So my statement should have been Hitler didnt have plans to invade the UK before 1940.
Are you positive Hitler never invaded any part of the UK? Aside from his plans?
I said Hitler had no plans. Occupying the channel islands which are closer to France than to England and were abandoned doesn’t count
“France than to England and were abandoned doesnt count”
