I planned on retiring at the end of the year. But this WFH thing is saving me three hours a day and a tank of gas every two days in commuting, not to mention downtown monthly parking. I”m making out like a bandit on this thing.
Don’t tell mom. ;)

One of our SIL’s has thyroid cancer and is being treated as an outpatient. Her travel was similar to yours, and her pickup was being filled @ about the same rate.
Her husband told her bosses that she needed to retire to recover. The company retrofitted one of their spare bedrooms into a great office at their expense. This happened about 2=3 weeks before the Corona crud hit. They had wanted her to come in once a week. Her husband was against that. So now she is full time at her home. She is negotiating being off on Wednesday to shop and do things without the normal crowds.
One my wife’s longest time friend retired the week before the CV as a the office manager for 9 dentists and 20 techs.
The head dentists are now offering her the same pay for 4 days at home and one trip a month to sign stuff and install an office in a bedroom. Her travel was terrible, about 2+ hours each way, if there were no wrecks or construction.
She is seriously considering doing the home office routine.
