We have had years of ordinary people injured by the radicals, and his DOJ does nothing. Maybe now, when it is supposedly interfering with the aims of the so-called peaceful black thugs, they might do something. I doubt it.

Saturday night in Washington, DC. I was home watching Madam Secretary when the news came on showing protests downtown in front of the White House around 1 am. Sunday morning. There has been some damage and setting dumpsters and trash cans of fire. Reporter showed earlier phone photo where a dumpster fire had run up an entire trash chute where a building was being renovated. He reported that groups of people with water bottles used them to put out some trash can fires. Other demonstrators had tried to calm down trouble makers, and one woman with a megaphone had yelled “this is not what we are about, this is a peaceful demonstration!!” Right now someone phoned a reporter and says demonstrators are now near 15th and I Street. Most of them are wearing masks, and I would say, not for criminal reasons. DC has been pretty good about masking and the Covid rate has been going down.
A Ronald Reagan signed building sustained some vandalism on 16th St.

Now there is reporting of damage and broken windows, one downtown had electronic items for sale, and Georgetown has had stores like Nike shoes and other for sale items attacked. This is just plain theft, not the demonstrator groups. A lot of people upset and photographing this damage.

Well, Madam Secretary is back on. People in DC appear to be going home. The crowds were mostly white near the White House photos. I am sure that a lot of young black people are being lectured by their grandparents, etc. about just how badly black people were hurt for a loooong time by the MLK riots. Hopefully, they will continue to stay home. During MLK riots 14th, 13th and 7th streets had many block burned out. Now all rebuilt, but a lot of crime moved over to 18th St and was bad for a number of years.

I assume if he has any solid knowledge he’s just going to share it with the American people - that’s how he rolls.

What irony. This weekend was the official end of the “lockdown” in Illinois but now we are right back to having people stay in the homes for safety reasons, and a state of emergency declared. And my car broke down last week, I’m near Chicago city limits, so I’m not going anywhere anyway.

“back then it was “Burn, Baby, BURN!””

Yup. They screeched that at every opportunity (i.e., whenever there was a camera nearby).

I’m all for breaking up the union at this point. There must be a way to separate from blue states. They are economically finished anyway. We have a better chance of a comeback if we split off peacefully and legally.

Again I was have a quiet evening at home enjoying Indiana Jones and his father searching for the Holy Grail. Starting around 9 pm, WUSA9 started intervening when it was advertising time with information about the demonstrations in downtown Washington, DC near the White House. There was an 11pm to 6am curfew scheduled. The film was nowhere near over when media broke in at 10:30 and was filming action in the streets nonstop. We were told that POTUS was squirreled away the same safe space as was used for 9/11. Around midnight, the lights at the White House were turned off. no move was made toward the White House, but around midnight National Guard vehicles and hours troops began to line up.

A utility building in Lafayette Park across from the White House was set ablaze and allowed to burn. A fire was started in the lobby of the AFL-CIO building but went out after a while. Was this in retaliation for damage to the facade of a Ronald Reagan building in the same block? A car was set afire. After 11pm, the regular demonstrators began to leave the area, and people remaining were breaking more windows, especially in several banks, but also a deli, a clothing store, etc. Also setting fires in all the trash containers. A piece of broken plywood that had been ripped off a broken window was leaned up against a trash container until it was burning. Then a man in black with white writing that I could not ready picked it up and threw it back into a store through the broken door.

I switched to the “Peacock” station where they were covering looting in affluent Georgetown. Looting last night had been boarded up but boards were being ripped of and windows broken. I don’t know whether it was downtown or in Georgetown, but one guy ran in, came out carrying stuff, jumped into his car and drove away. There were cars driven into town from Virginia, and there were cars with license plates removed. Many were wearing a mask, many for Covid protection because social distance was not being observed, but a few who I saw actually taking pipes to windows for disguise. At one point during the day demonstrators were dialoguing with police and asking them for a show of support of their goals, and some police took a knee in support.

So far it is nowhere near as bad as the MLK riots, but it was significantly worse than the minor stuff that happened at POTUS’s inauguration day that I witnessed in person while downtown. I am going to print today’s statistics for Covid in all the states that is at Worldometer so I can compare Covid statistics for riot areas and states that opened in the past week or two with states that were quiet and maintained careful controls, during the next few weeks.

Rioters vandalized the WWII memorial in DC today. Apparently the Lincoln Memorial was vandalized too, too. Despicable.

Plus the historic St. John's Church across from the the White House was set on fire, and seemed to burn an awfully long time, from what I saw on TV. (Fire was extinguished... supposedly mostly the basement was damaged)

Kevin Cork (Fox News) reported about two hours ago: "A group of young males arrived in the Lafayette Park area very late... all armed with hammers. They set fires *everywhere*, and smashed ALL the shop windows along a 4-block route. You got the feeling it was organized/coordinated."

Antifa!

That's great, however other "protesters" on Friday night across from the White House were hurling full water bottles and BRICKS at WH Secret Service agents and police. Plus Leland Vittert and his Fox News crew were nearly attacked by an angry mob, and were run out of the area... pretty much fearing for their lives.

The Fox News cameraman - first name Christian - had been embedded with troops in Iraq and Afghanistan years ago. He said Friday night's experience in front of the White House was particularly harrowing because he and his FNC crew just had NO protection around them at all - no military, no medical units, as in a war zone. They were defenseless out there with an angry mob, out for blood against Fox News.

I watched non-stop TV news for almost 3 hours, with several reporters and the people filming them near where the late demonstrators/agitators were operating after the curfew started. I only saw one threat to a news person when a person came up and tried to grab the mike out of the reporter’s hand.
