GOP votes to give chairman authority to subpoena Obama officials

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee voted on Thursday to grant Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) broad subpoena authority as part of a probe stemming from the Obama administration.

In a party-line vote, Republicans on the panel gave Johnson the power to issue subpoenas for more than 35 individuals and a swath of documents, which will allow him to skip having to come back to the committee for a vote on each individual subpoena.

Johnson is conducting a wide-ranging investigation that includes reviewing "Crossfire Hurricane," the name for the FBI's investigation into election interference and the Trump campaign, the probe of former national security adviser Michael Flynn and leaks stemming from the early days of the Trump administration.

Johnson defended the investigation on Thursday, saying that "evidence is mounting" that there was not a "peaceful and cooperative" transition between the Obama and Trump administrations.

"The conduct we know that occurred during the transition should concern everyone and absolutely warrants further investigation. .. The subpoena authority I am requesting today will help us gather the necessary information. Hopefully, the agencies and individuals will fully cooperate, and the number of subpoenas required will be limited," he added.

The subpoena authorization vote allows Johnson to subpoena former FBI Director James Comey, former national security advisor Susan Rice and former CIA Director John Brennan, among others.

The penalty for sedition is death. So let it be written, so let it be done. There’s your endgame.

Subpoena who you want. That doesn’t mean they will show or that they’ll suffer any penalty.

How can you ask “does it matter”? Of course it matters.

They are REALLY going to get to the bottom of it this time. They will testify truthfully and fully at the hearings. Serious indictments will follow. Criminal trials. Convictions. Long-term incarcerations. The guilty as well as all of those throughout government will do some serious self-examination of their past and planned wrongs and redeem themselves. They will pray to the Lord for forgiveness of their manifold sins. They will rededicate themselves to our glorious experiment in self-government and pledge themselves to restore Justice and Virtue to the public square.

Count on it. It’s going to happen.

Praying that you’re correct. And it needs to happen.
Please keep in mind, ALL these perps all have “D”s after their names....they’re immune. NOTHING ever happens to “D”s. Hell, they can riot and burn down entire cities with total immunity!!!
All of us want to see it, including me, but none of us sure as heck ain’t gonna hold our breath waiting for it to actually “happen”.

Hopefully, Ron Johnson’s committee will ask tougher questions than Flimsy Linzie Graham’s committee.

I watched yesterday’s hearing and the only Senator who laid out the corruption and bias was Sen John Kennedy from Louisiana.

The media will just gloss over this thing and ignore it just like yesterday’s testimony. It was just a big yawn *nothing to see here folks*

Senate hearings are a joke. Nobody watches them and the media picks the soundbites that favor the democrats.

“Praying that you’re correct. And it needs to happen.”

Darn it! I thought I wrote it so absurdly over-the-top that everybody would pick up on the dripping cynicism.

Just to clarify my position: Nothing that I wrote will ever happen. They will continue to lie, dissemble, go free, subvert the nation and the Constitution, and the nation will sink further into the abyss.

"Finally. A slight chance that absolutely nothing will happen."

Now that is pure genius, DSRT! Rarely has anybody said so much in so few words. Just beautiful.
