The nation's capital braced itself with members of the National Guard guarding famous landmarks and patrolling a new pedestrian-only demonstration area as streets were closed off.
The White House remained a fortress, with black fences between seven and nine feet high erected around its perimeter cutting off protesters, as D.C.'s mayor formally renamed the street outside 'Black Lives Matter Plaza'.
Streets were shut in downtown from 6am as the first of the dozens of demonstrations organized for the day began and the city's metro system announced it was reopening cars closed due to coronavirus to boost rider capacity.

Unarmed National Guards is what I’m hearing. I would hope there are armed guards elsewhere.

Based on past experience, especially in DC where I attended 9/12, it’s going to be interesting to see what the democrat-run media reports for turn out.
Call me skeptical, but I suspect the figures will be inflated anywhere from 50% to 100% depending on whatever it takes to put the numbers up to what they think they should be.

The whole thing is about Trump. Was from the start. This weekend’s riot is about causing Trump to take some action. NO MATTER WHAT he says or does, they will condemn him for it. They will try to provoke him.
So long as they are peaceful, let them march.
But I STILL as this. If it were a march for reopening would it even be allowed?

We have been to D.C. with 200,000 - 500,000 thousand people
as have others here on FR. We did not see any troops there nor did we see piles of trash when we left. What are the odds that this will be 100% peaceful and no trash on the streets when they leave?
