Sophistry. I'll bet you will get a lot of coverage of Camden while "defund the police" is trending. Note:

So in 2012, officials voted to completely disband the department -- it was beyond reform.

Misleading. Read on:

And in 2013, the Camden County Police Department officially began its tenure.

No, the city police was replaced by the County Police. And CNN will not admit that part of the reason was to save money.

Re: the corruption in the Camden police dept...

Some folks don't want to hear it, but the 'drug war' breeds corruption at every level.

This is another attempt as 'walking back' defunding police departments. CNN's Scottie Andrew knows the difference.

When Marxists use the term 'defund' they mean 'replace current police' with brown shirts who work for THEM...

What we see here is an extension of community policing with the added benefit of clearing the decks - firing a bunch of corrupt cops at one time. This is NOT an example of 'defunding police'...

Camden dissolved its police department to root out corruption.

Fake news. The City disbanded the police force for fiscal reasons in that it could no longer afford the police union contract. In order to get rid of the union contract, the City had to get rid of the union, and the only way to get rid of the union was to get rid of the police department. The Camden County Police Department, which was created to take over the City of Camden Police Department, was non-union at the time. And if I recall correctly, nearly all of the former City of Camden LEO accepted positions with the newly formed Camden County Police Department.
