What My Neighborhood Needs: Fewer Virtue Signaling Lawn Signs
American Thinker ^ | June 21, 2020 | Clarice Feldman

...

As soon as the mayhem began in Minnesota, a number of houses on the next block sprouted commercially prepared lawn signs supporting Black Lives Matter. (Many of these same homes earlier sported lawn signs saying “Hate has no Home here” and “All Are Welcome” when the President halted immigration from countries where background checks were decidedly unreliable.) Frankly, I was never under the impression that black lives didn’t matter. I’m old school enough to think all lives matter. Indeed, I think treating all people equally and entitled to the protection of their person, property, and rights of civil enjoyment is essential to preserve an orderly, prosperous society. (In case you are wondering, All Lives Matter is a preferred statement by a majority of Americans and more blacks than Black Lives Matter according to a recent Rasmussen poll.)

So I wrote this off, as mere virtue signaling by people who had no reason to fear their homes and places of businesses would be destroyed by marauding thugs. It is a telling feature of today’s Democrats that they are unable to empathize with the middle and working classes of their country of all races. They are cosseted in tenured university slots, the federal state and local government bureaucracies, other secure professional slots, living in safe neighborhoods and in little danger themselves.

The great thing about virtue signaling is that those who do it are exempted from actual virtuous behavior by their leftist cronies. Virtuous behavior is hard and costly because it is opposite our sinful natures. Virtue signaling on the other hand is cheap and easy. Anyone can do it - kind of like the old Geico commercial “Even a caveman can do it” theme. When I see someone virtue signal, my initial thought is that the signaler is not remotely virtuous.

The way I see it is this: Put one of those stupid signs on your front lawn and I will never take you seriously again for as long as I live.

People are simply afraid to say anything negative about BLM. Their webpage states that they want to do away with the family and foster a trans-gender culture. They call everyone “comrade” - that is, if you’re black.

They are nothing more that extreme communists hiding under race.

We should stop falling into the anarchists’ trap with our reflexive reactions and deliver the positive messages that really matter instead by word of mouth, T-shirts, caps, signs, decals, etc. We need a bandwagon approach that could easily cast a shadow over theirs and drown their evil messages out.

Just like political correctness is cultural marxist tyranny wrapped in a cloak of common decency, Black Lives Matter(a statement of fact) is a trojan horse for marxism.

“virtue signaling”

I have started to rebel at the grocery store. When they want me to round up, or add a dollar or something I tell them “No, if you want to show the world what great people you are you can do it with your own money.”

Most leftists think that the “Thank You, Jesus” signs are pro Trump when in fact they were invented by a 16 yo kid around Easter 2016 as a way to unify everyone with something all could agree on. They had nothing to do with politics. TDS has infected just about everything.

That’s a sucky neighborhood - - around here, the lawn signs announce what roofing company got your contract to do the hail damage replacement work. The sign keeps the other roofing people from knocking on your door. The storm was in late April & nearly every house in the neighborhood now has a new roof. My contractor completed my job in 2 days this week. Still have the gutters and paint yet to go.

Our street has so many houses with American flags Gadsden flags and now Trump 20/20 Flags there’s not one virtue signaling sign thank heavens when I come home from work I feel comfortable.

By the way all these flags make this neighborhood very safe from black lives matter and antifa types cuz they know by the flags most of these homeowners have guns

BLM signs. Always in white virtue-signaling neighborhoods. Never in the black urban neighborhoods.

I always ROFLMAO whenver the highly moral left promote “coexist”, “Hate Has No Home Here”, “All are Welcome” ....except Republicans, Christians who actually strive to practice their faith, and especially not black conservatives, deplorables and President Trump.
