Much like Remington Steele, Joe Biden doesn’t actually exist.

Since the Democrats don’t have a real candidate, a virtual convention makes a lot of sense.

“Biden may turn out to be the first president elected (God forbid) without campaigning and without debating and without leaving his basement.”

Not so.
In 1880 James Garfield campaigned from his Ohio farm exclusively.
Benjamin Harrison used the same technique in 1888.

In 1896, due to his wife’s health problems, William McKinley refused to leave her to campaign. He instead gave interviews and speeches from his front porch while William Jennings Bryan traveled 18,000 miles giving lengthy speeches. McKinley defeated Bryan without ever leaving his porch.

Actually considering all who ran in the beginning I figure Biden was chosen to loose

Biden will address the convention from the podium, but there will be no delegates present.

So, all they need is the “disablity” standard to remove sleepy Joe.

There’s already plenty of evidence for that. Wonder who they’d put up?

Hillary? Harris (not NBC)? Moochelle?

If the polls are correct even a drooling, senile, old white guy that hasn’t mastered the TelePrompter in 40 years who can’t put together two coherent sentences is fine with half of America.

Just unbelievable. I just hope these are typically, purposely skewed polls like those that had Hillary at 95% to win, even on election day. More than hoping I’m praying that’s the case.

I don't think we can compare the 1800s to the current days, where we now have tv and radio, and traveling is a lot easier and faster.

But, I get your point about NOT being the first.

“But, I get your point about NOT being the first.”

Yes the technology has changed greatly and Donald Trump used social media like a BOSS.

In McKinleys re-election campaign he stayed at the White House and let Teddy Roosevelt do the traveling, handshaking and speeches.
If Hillary had had a tech savvy staff, a better VP candidate and a campaign manager capable of thinking outside the box (a lot of ifs) she would have made a much better showing. She may have even won. Thank the Lord she ran a typical campaign she was physically unfit to complete.

If Joe Biden gets the right staff who is capable of guiding him through a, more or less, virtual campaign, a VP candidate that can get out and excite the crowd Teddy Roosevelt style he just might be a handful.

Fortunately Joe boxed himself in with the “woman of color” VP bit.
I think Tulsi Gabbard would be Joe’s best pick but after she took out Harris in the primary it seems the DNC has decided to hamstring her.
Tulsi could possibly check the POC box with her partial Samoan heritage though.
