Exactly. And its not just the voting for Democrats by large margins that calls into question this alleged conservatism, but also the fact that the Democrat party has moved ever more left and radical as the power and influence of non-white immigrant groups has grown within the Democratic Party.
Youd think if the alleged social and cultural conservatism of Hispanics was as strong as we hear, then theyd exert some pressure and influence on the Democrat party to be less radical on social issues. But it doesnt happen. Youd think wed see a lot Hispanic blue dog Democrats who are conservative on social issues, but we dont.
Good point.
I recall hearing the George W Bush got about 44% of the Hispanic vote in Texas when he ran for governor.
If the Republicans had candidates who appealed to the bulk of Hispanic voters, couldn’t we see a Republican candidate get a big share of that vote in the future?
Or was Bush a one-off in his elections?
If we are saying that demography is Destiny, and if we’re saying that the growing numbers of racial and cultural minorities in this country are going to give the bulk of their votes for the Democratic party automatically, then the Republican party may never win another presidential election.
One thing is certain and that is that Republicans cannot just write off big groups of voters. We need to compete for some share of the black vote and compete for an increasing share of Hispanic and Asian and any other group you can think of.
