Six more high priority miles last week.

Its good work, but we'll need to pick up the pace to make 450 miles before the end of the year. That is the plan.

They sounded quite confident of making that goal last week in Yuma. There sure is enough money on hand (Thank you President Trump!).

Contract awards don't seem to be announced the way they used to, as new work seems to now mostly be modifications of earlier contracts, or task orders off of big standing (MATOC) contracts, with no public notice.

Just based on the last couple of months announcements however, new crews will be joining the fray.

Hopefully, the recent 9th Circus ruling against the use of Military Counter-Narcotics funding doesn't slow continued new awards.

Yeah, what was up with that? I thought it had already been litigated.

It is interesting that the video script shows part of the very rugged Rio Grande Valley and states that no wall is needed there.

I bet eventually the drug smugglers and human traffickers find a way

“what was up with that? I thought it had already been litigated.”

The Supreme Court last July, just said that lower Courts could not issue preliminary injunctions against the President, while they heard the case - it was not a final decision on the case itself.

On the one hand, it was a declared National emergency. On the other hand there was the growing phenomena of any one of the hundreds of District Court judges taking it upon themselves to dictate Nationwide vetoes, attempting to over rule the functioning of the elected Executive. So the Supremes were reining in the Hawaiian Judges and San Francisco Bay judges from their worst over reaches.

The Supreme Court allowed work to go forward, while the Court (supposedly) decided the case on its merits. A year later, it is still winding through the Courts.

Last week’s decision by a 3 judge panel from the Ninth Circuit will be appealed, either to the full Ninth Circuit, or to the Supreme Court for decision.

The GOP Senate should have includes $25 Billion for Border Wall completion in that ridiculous $2.2 Trillion Fustercluck Kung Flu Stimulus Bill.

In the comments section of the great video you linked, I saw this:

“Over 60 Billion in tariffs collected from China. China paid for the wall several times over.”

That would be the second Great Wall they have funded.

We have to live with Mexico. China is more optional.

Let China pick up the tab for Mexico on the Wall, and let Mexico pick up a bunch of China’s former business under the new USMCA trade deal. Win-Win (for US and Mexico anyway).

Bottom Line: President Trump has already acquired the money needed for the Wall.

Next year’s budget request from the Administration for the Wall dropped way down, in recognition. The job of getting the money, is done.

Although construction will continue all through next year (2021), the money has already been identified to pay for the particular miles identified in the Comprehensive Plan for Full Operational Control of the Southern Border.

The Administration is working to get all of the money awarded on contracts, and financially obligated (locked in, under Federal financial rules) before the end of the year. The pace of construction is on track to speed up through the rest of this year.

“Wanna bet that if Quid Pro Joementia Biden the groping Pedo is Elected he will issue an EO his first day in Office halting any and all Border Wall Construction?”

When Obama took office, Bush-era border wall projects that were already awarded on contract, with funding obligated, continued on to completion.

Clearly, we are in a more radical political environment today, so its certainly possible that they might order an immediate halt. There would be significant cancellation penalties on the contracts, but they might not care.

Although the Leftist base rabidly wants the wall torn down, and Leftist politicians throw them red meat by saying they will do it, the reality is that border wall is big benefit to the local communities along the border - mostly run by Dems. Although they publicly say they don’t want the wall, for many reasons, they want to be “forced” into getting it.

Lower crime, higher property values (and thereby property taxes), greatly improved flood control - good border wall spurs economic development impressively. It has been seen time and time again along the border, over the last few decades.

Many people appreciate the economic stimulus from 25,000 construction jobs building the wall, but it less widely appreciated the long term economic stimulus that will come from just having security of the wall, in the communities all along it (including some sizable cities).

So they may just mug around for a few months, and just blame President Trump for it.

...also, if Dems do take the White House, they can achieve their political aims of changing our demographics, and packing key swing districts with immigrants, simply by opening the gates through policy.

They can do such things largely out of view of the general public, and still get the outcome they want, with less downside risk of being exposed.

Of course, that would depend on them being totally rational and calculating. Often new Administrations go overboard right off the bat (pumped up by their recent electoral victory) on their ideological pet projects, and incur political blowback. Pride goes before a fall, as they say (or hubris invokes nemesis, to the Greeks).
