Winn-Dixie, Publix, Walmart: All the U.S. Chains Requiring Masks
New York Times ^ | 7/21/20 | Gillian Friedman

Large retail chains have started requiring customers to wear masks inside all of their stores, as coronavirus cases surge across the country and politicians and public health experts clamor for widespread use of face coverings to stem the spread of the disease.

After Walmart, America’s largest retailer, announced on July 15 that it would mandate in-store mask-wearing, a flurry of other companies, including Kroger, Target and Walgreens, followed suit. This means that customers will be required to wear face masks in stores even in places without local mask ordinances. The National Retail Federation has encouraged companies to set nationwide mask policies to protect employees and shoppers.

My Kroger has a 5 foot sign in front demanding a mask on the orders of the king - oops I mean the governor.

However, the governor’s “degree” includes medical exemptions without defining what a medical reason is - and medical privacy laws prohibit them from demanding I tell the medical reason. So when I went to Kroger the I wore no mask. I was not approached by employees or customers on that. But when I am I will say that I have a medical exemption. If I am told do leave I will ask them if they are familiar with the ADA. It will be instructive to see that response that elicits.

The irony which is wasted on the Kool Aid drinkers is that the masks are unhealthy so logically everyone has a “medical reason” for not wearing one.

I was the only person in the entire store not wearing one. A number of the poor employees wear them off the nose etc because it is unhealthy to wear one all day. The whole mask thing is an effin joke. A very, very, sick one.

They are ineffective uncomfortable and dehumanizing. Tell me again why I should just wear the mask? Not to mention the worry about my 80’yewr old parents wearing masks when the heat index is over 100’. what could go wrong?

Ummm. No they don’t. You do not have a right to enter a store. You are a guest.

Wearing a mask is not the mark of the beast. Never was and never will be. The world is losing it’s mind.

Yet the WW I generation did it - therefore the WW II generation did it when they were kids.

And in order to have this even be close to the mark of the beast - you need a beast - and you need 10 kingdoms for him to rule - and a temple for him to sit in first.

Kinda got a long way to go there first...

A big part of the problem is our legal system, which allows juries to bankrupt and punish defendants based on their media-brainwashed notions of what is negligent. The lawyers are telling the CEO’s to require masks. Reform the legal system, and the incentives will change.

My mask is a Confederate battle flag bandanna. Worn only in grocery store. Still waiting for negative reaction.

I’ve developed a strategy to avoid all the place that require masks. I have enough in the pantry to go several weeks and if it hasn’t changed, In the case of Kroger, I’m making them bring a pre-order out to the car.

I don’t know if it’s the mark of the beast according to Revelation — eschatology is definitely not my thing.

But I do know masks send a very, very bad message to one and all.

Ultimately, mask wearers proclaim that they are not free citizens of a constitutional republic but subjects of a leviathan state.

I’ve made a point of emailing the places I used to shop at, the reports that show masks are useless, and likely harmful. Maybe if enough people pushed back....

You are right they aren’t the mark of the beast, but they are a sign of surrender and obeisance.

It’d be nice to be able to get some n95 for my construction projects. Prior to the plannedemic, I was using one a day to prevent inhalation of nasty dust from demolition , cutting cement siding, etc.

Mark of the beast? Nonsense.

I don't think it's nonsense at all. Look at the gradual nature of this - it went from 15 days to "slow the curve" to absolute compulsion of covering your nose and mouth — hampering two essentials that make us human, BREATHING AND SPEAKING – in order to participate in the brick-and-mortar economy.

It isn't the specific of it so much as the NATURE of it that should trigger your spidey senses.

Anyone who doesn't recognize the hellish source of the hoofbeats here will be run over.

“Mark of the beast?...Nonsense.”

When Amazon makes me wear a mask to use their website, or when the disease is finally gone, rather than exploding (at least here in Texas), I might agree with ‘mark of the beast’.
