The 2018 attack in the city of Freiburg fuelled anti-foreigner sentiment, with protests by the far right.
The lead defendant was sentenced to five and a half years for the attack - which lasted for more than two hours - while seven others received sentences of up to four years.
Two men received suspended sentences for failing to provide assistance.
One man was acquitted.
The victim, who was 18 at the time, had her drink spiked before being attacked in bushes outside the venue.

5 yrs for almost killing a girl and raping her.
These people are beyond stupid.
Color me shocked that they actually even convicted the muslims.
Solution...Just get a bunch goats to wander around Muslim infested German cities...They will lose ALL interest in German women
years after the media denied any such events took place
Don’t tell me....
Eight our of ten of them named Muhammad. Then there was Akbar and Abdul.
Death penalty works for me.
Sorry, no second chances on something like this.
Just line em up and forget about ‘em.
Yep.
I was an exchange student at the University of Freiburg in the early 90s. Freiburg was a beautiful old college town then. Its sad to see it has been overrun with 3rd world savages who do not belong in a modern western country.
5 years is an appallingly light sentence for the horrific crime they inflicted on an innocent 18 year old girl.
I’m also surprised they were convicted, they were simply practicing their religion like their prophet did and instructed in the Koran.
The BBC opens by blaming the “far right” for reacting to this atrocity, rather than placing the blame on the perpetrators where it belongs. The article also links to an articles titled “Germans urged not to scapegoat migrants” and “How far-right is Germany’s AfD”. The BBC’s clear editorial position is that prosecuting rape of German women is a lower priority than protecting Muslim immigrants and criticizing the “far right”.
The first sentence of the article, before explaining literally anything else about the story, is pathetic whining about creating anti-foreign sentiments.
I really, really despise the media.

That's the leadoff? The remains of the writer and the editor should be found with the heads switched.
