If the Senate wanted a military surge into Syria, they’d be throwing money at it, no questions asked.

Dear Mitch — its a bitch but we haven’t got our dollar one from your first money throwaway. Do we have to die to get it ?

Does the fedgov/irs have problems doing math? The flat $600 was a stupid idea. They should have made it whatever percentage would be needed to bump unemployment up to equal 90% of people’s regular pay. They would be able to survive and still have motivation to go back to work.

“ Then we can lose the election and it will go to a grand a week.”

Well, it’s supposed to go down to a total of $2000 per month, but it would be permanent.

Is Nancy screaming out that if you vote for trump you are voting against your free welfare yet?
Have they started on the elderly with the old SSI trick yet?

If Biden wins, and the D’s have both houses, it will be far more than that.
Agree or disagree?

“ Have they started on the elderly with the old SSI trick yet?”

Actually, that’s not a “truck”. Republican establishment, following the lead of the Koch Brothers, really do want to cut Social Security benefits. Mitch even said so, again, right before the 2018 elections - a comment that helped Pelosi and the Dems take back the House

A lot of Republicans call SS a “Ponzi scheme” - even though the same term could be used for any govt program, including the military, that relies on continued infusion of new taxes to keep going

It was Trump who came along and said the GOO should stop demonizing Social Security and should stop talking about cutting benefits. Trump was booed by the GOP debate audience for saying that

No the Dems aren’t pulling a “trick” when they accuse Republicans of wNting to cut Social Security

I don’t see people wanting something for nothing being Trump supporters.
It’s like saying keep the feds out of Portland because they won’t vote for Trump.

The Squad has been talking “livable” permanent income of $2000 before the virus. More Dems got on the band wagon after the virus. Couples get $4000 and another $500 per kid.

Will they do it? Probably.

The $600 federal unemployment bonus needs to stay dead!

Maybe it will force some of the lazies to go back to work?

Imagine that?

I completely disagree with your analogy.
And, they would rather have their jobs back, but if we don’t open, then what? People have bills and families. You can’t eat your principles.

Clearly they’re all lazy.
It had nothing to do with the government shutting down businesses.
For an O-6, you’re a real jackass.

McConnell: Stimulus Package Could Take ‘Weeks’ To Pass

Late enough for the Democrats to get all the political capital they can from it but still close enough to the election to anger the base. Great work, McConnell.

I'm over 65 with diabetes, and my doctor told me to not risk going back to work until the pandemic is over. My employer put up a public relations campaign as to how they're "protecting their most valuable resource, our workers", while not doing a damn thing. 3 of my coworkers, roughly 20% contracted Covid.

I'm following the laws that have been promulgated. The money paid out to businesses is far more than what has been paid to employees, and we've seen plenty of reports as to how companies have been gaming the system.

When liberal colleges with multibillion dollar endowments are taking the money, I'm not going to turn mine down. A good chunk of it is going to help out other family members in more difficult situations.

Perhaps that largest employer in your area should take a look at the way they do their business. Doesn't appear they've earned much loyalty from their employees.

People do not stay bought. Either they will vote for Trump and continued freedom, or they will not vote at all, or they will vote for the imposition of communism on this once freedom loving Republic. Appeasement is not the answer to the shut down of this country. Stop all of it, and the communist democrat party and their affiliates and fellow travelers will not be able to continue to keep the American people hostage while they destroy this Republic. Enough already!

Another great book to read is "The Forgotten Man" by Amity Schlaes. The forward is chilling...all you had to do was substitute a few names, and you would have been smack dab in the middle of the Clinton or Obama administrations.

The one quote that stuck with me was uttered by Henry Morganthau, FDR's Treasury Secretary on May 9, 1939:

"We are spending more money than we have ever spent before and it does not work. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. We have never made good on our promises.

I say after eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started and an enormous debt to boot."

The date jumped out at me...15 years to the day before I was born...lol.

The “general welfare” pledge in the preamble?"

I always had a problem with that clause. IMO, it is too sweeping. It is used in every liberal give-away the dem/socs want. Although the Founding Fathers were far beyond my intellect, I've always thought that they should not have included that clause. It is just too damn vague and open-ended, and is the root of many of our nation's problems.

Maybe if they had replaced it with "promote the equal opportunity" or left it out entirely, we wouldn't be heading towards socialism. Of course, the FF's had no way of seeing such a benign statement would be so abused when they included it.

This problem with basing legal freebies on a statement in the Preamble is that it has no legal bearing. A preamble is simply a statement that explains the purposes of the document. In and of itself, it grants or restricts nothing.
