I lived there. Eastern MT is solidly red except maybe Bozeman, a college town. Too many liberals from WA and CA came in and scarfed up all the Western part of the state. Now it is contaminated with very liberal loons.
For a while there you could sell your million dollar tract house in California and buy a mansion in Montana with enough left over to live in comfort for the rest of your life. Bring your politics with you and tell all your CA friends to come on up. Spend winters in Scottsdale and you have bought paradise.
