A Texas father rescued his 4-year-old daughter from a massive, 12-foot alligator by throwing her over his backyard fence, according to US media reports.
Andrew Grandes daughter and son were playing with a babysitter behind their home, when Grande spotted the largest alligator he had ever seen heading toward his children, who were fishing and catching crabs near a canal. Suddenly, a nearly 600-pound alligator began approaching them.
Grande reportedly dashed from his home, grabbed his daughter and threw her over the fence, while his son and babysitter ran to the other side. The rescue was just in time.
The alligator continued to approach Grande, nearing his feet. The man also went to the other side of the fence, while the alligator lingered for 20 to 30 minutes. Grande said he was not 100% sure of the alligator's intentions, but had a gut feeling that it wanted [his] daughter as a snack, he told the Houston Chronicle. The Grande family contacted a game warden and local alligator hunter, who captured the alligator with the help of several other people.
The alligator has been relocated to Gator Country Wildlife Adventure Park in Beaumont, Texas. Grande said he hopes to take his children to visit the alligator soon.
“Should have had a horse.”
That’s impressive.
“The Beowulf 400-425gr HP”
Now all I need is an excuse to own one.
I was down at the gun store looking at the Henry 45-70, and I just couldn’t come up with one. What am I going to do with it, poach buffalo?
Should have had a horse.
Matter of fact, that’s as close as I’ve ever come to feeling sorry for an alligator.
I just sold my Henry “Big Boy”, chambered in .357 Magnum, since I haven’t shot it in 5-6yrs. I also sold my Beowulf .50cal, AR-10 .308cal, Remy 870 Pump 12ga, Remy 1124 Semi-Auto Police Tactical 12ga, Winchester Level Action Special .32 Magnum, extra Kimber 1911 .45cal ACP and Colt Trooper MKIII in .357 Magnum.
I still have my daily carry piece Kimber 1911 .45cal ACP and two Class III AR-15s left, which I’m keeping.
What worries me is not having enough hardware; it’s having enough trigger pullers.
No one should be standing near the water in South Texas. Dad should have been with his kids the entire time.
