Barbed wire placed in ‘Trump Wall’ (El Paso)

Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.- In an unprecedented event in the Chihuahua border area, workers in the service of the US government work to place barbed wire on the so-called ‘Trump Wall’, this a few meters from the border crossing located between Ciudad Juárez and El Paso.

At the moment it is unknown how long this measure will extend. Unofficial reports indicate that the extreme measure may be due to the fact that several groups of migrants have placed improvised stairs in the place to cross to the United States

Two interesting points:

1. El Paso's barriers are starting to get concertina on top.

2. Contractors are emplacing it, rather than Military troops.

The journalist writing this piece, sounds like a local on the Mexican side of the El Paso Border Wall System, who doesn't know that multiple rolls of concertina on top is now a standard feature for the bollards - but lagging some time behind their initial construction. So a lot of the locals may be surprised by the new features, even though they have been rolling out elsewhere along the border.

The Military deployment to support the Border Patrol (which was extended again through the end of the this fiscal year) includes detachments of soldiers who add concertina to the bollards. Bollards are now going up way faster though, and it looks like contractors are being used as well.

Concertina really deters/defeats the common rope and ladder ("improvised stairs") type attacks on the Wall System. Once everything is in place, and all the cameras, alarms and sensors are turned on; they are going to find what everyone else has been finding - they just won't be able to successfully get over there anymore. Door closed.

Ay, Chihuahua! :)

Glad to see it. Keep building, keep improving. Keep thwarting the illegal invaders.

Finding tunnels is good news, tunnels not found would be the problem.

There are a lot of anti-tunnel upgrades occurring as well.

“Well, except for the ‘great escape’ tunnels they keep finding.”

Those tunnels were OLD ones being discovered as they put up new wall. There are NO tunnels underneath the new wall. None. Zip zero nada.

Discover tunnel. Monitor tunnel. When tunnel is occupied, detonate explosives in tunnel. Lather, rinse, repeat.

“Mexicans steal it (concertina) and use it to protect their Homes”

There was a small incident in San Diego/Tijuana of some of that, and the Left wants to pretend that all concertina is quickly looted off the wall.

The reality is that it was a very small scale and isolated event, while hundreds of miles have been emplaced, and remain effective.

The local kids are not going to be stripping concertina off the American side of the anti-climb plates, at the top of 30 foot bollards, once construction is complete, the alarms are activated, and they are under persistence camera surveillance from the command post.

A major function of the concertina is to delay a few moments, for the patrol car to roll up to that spot.

Exactly. It’s as if the “journalist” doesn’t know what he is talking about.

I want it massively electrified, so we don’t have to have an army of patrol staff driving around all day.

“A “see through” wall... brilliant!”

Border Patrol strongly required a see through design, for important operational reasons.

- Earlier warning/more reaction time. A huge factor in successful interceptions.

- Ability to see/characterize the threat. Know what the officer will be getting into - a pregnant girl, or twelve fast moving men with rifles?

- Ability to influence action on the Southern side. Issue commands, photograph lawbreakers for evidence (faces, license plates), employ incapacitants like pepper spray on crowds, shoot directly if needed.

- Deny cover/concealment to those trying to tunnel, breach or climb. Anyone approaching the barrier will be under observation and unable to hide. This protects the barrier from deliberate efforts to get under, through or over; and forces to tunnels to start much further back, defeating unskilled tunnelers.
