Joint Statement of the United States, the State of Israel, and the United Arab Emirates
Emirates News Agency ^ | 8/13/20 | WAM/MOHD AAMIR

Posted on 08/13/2020 8:19:11 AM PDT by Jim W N

ABU DHABI, 13th August, 2020 (WAM) -- President Donald J. Trump, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, spoke today and agreed to the full normalisation of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

This historic diplomatic breakthrough will advance peace in the Middle East region and is a testament to the bold diplomacy and vision of the three leaders and the courage of the United Arab Emirates and Israel to chart a new path that will unlock the great potential in the region. All three countries face many common challenges and will mutually benefit from today’s historic achievement.

Delegations from Israel and the United Arab Emirates will meet in the coming weeks to sign bilateral agreements regarding investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit. Opening direct ties between two of the Middle East's most dynamic societies and advanced economies will transform the region by spurring economic growth, enhancing technological innovation, and forging closer people-to-people relations.

As a result of this diplomatic breakthrough and at the request of President Trump with the support of the United Arab Emirates, Israel will suspend declaring sovereignty over areas outlined in the President’s Vision for Peace and focus its efforts now on expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world. The United States, Israel and the United Arab Emirates are confident that additional diplomatic breakthroughs with other nations are possible, and will work together to achieve this goal.

The United Arab Emirates and Israel will immediately expand and accelerate cooperation regarding the treatment of and the development of a vaccine for the coronavirus. Working together, these efforts will help save Muslim, Jewish, and Christian lives throughout the region.

This normalisation of relations and peaceful diplomacy will bring together two of America’s most reliable and capable regional partners. Israel and the United Arab Emirates will join with the United States to launch a Strategic Agenda for the Middle East to expand diplomatic, trade, and security cooperation. Along with the United States, Israel and the United Arab Emirates share a similar outlook regarding the threats and opportunities in the region, as well as a shared commitment to promoting stability through diplomatic engagement, increased economic integration, and closer security coordination. Today’s agreement will lead to better lives for the peoples of the United Arab Emirates, Israel, and the region.

The United States and Israel recall with gratitude the appearance of the United Arab Emirates at the White House reception held on January 28, 2020, at which President Trump presented his Vision for Peace, and express their appreciation for United Arab Emirates’ related supportive statements. The parties will continue their efforts in this regard to achieve a just, comprehensive and enduring resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As set forth in the Vision for Peace, all Muslims who come in peace may visit and pray at the Al Aqsa Mosque, and Jerusalem’s other holy sites should remain open for peaceful worshippers of all faiths.

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan express their deep appreciation to President Trump for his dedication to peace in the region and to the pragmatic and unique approach he has taken to achieve it.

I think it's more a matter of Holy Sites both significant to Jews and Muslims in Israel. I doubt Jews are interested in the Black stone in mecca.

The UAE, in spite of our military there (about 3,500 in Abu Dhabi) is not one of our true friend. We are friends of convenience and that is all.

They are on the outs with Saudi Arabia in part over the UAE’s refusal to distance themselves from the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood is as far as Iran in its denunciation of Israel. It will be interesting to see what develops in the UAE because of this agreement with Israel.

On the positive side the UAE is opposing Turkey inserting itself into the division in Libya.

There are Christians in UAE but they can’t overtly share their faith and no muslim woman is allowed to marry a Christian, let alone a Jew. Did PT seek any change on that. Prob not. It’s the same old story. Accomodate the rags and get jack squat in return

I will be watching with keen interest to see how the rest of the world responds to this peace deal. Of course, we know the Rats in our government are fuming, and the Palestinians are too.

I hope to see continued items like this from Trump in the days until the election. Maybe he'll sway some Jewish votes from the Rats and Biden/Harris.

Well, the land deal should have been a deal breaker IMO.

Jared’s involvement should have given me pause.

There is NO justification in this agreement for Israel to have to forfeit claiming land that is rightfully theirs. Both parties already benefit from uniting against Iran without any land rights being forfeited.

I am sick and tired of the U.S. pushing Israel into agreements that take way their land rights.

I have not read an Israeli version and an Arabic version of the agreement and had them both translated into English.

If someone does that they may find that aspects of the agreement may not jibe with western journalists reporting.

Israel may in fact be not changing its official position regarding Judea and Samaria, merely putting that pursuit on hold for awhile - for the time period off - working out the state-to-state details in the agreement with the UAE; but no longer.

However, the Arabic version from the UAE may have a different slant of its own on that.

I think we have to give it all some time to see how it all turns out.

One thing I do not think Israel had any right to do, if that’s what it did, was give the UAE any say so over what happens with Judea & Samaria/west bank. They - the UAE - have zero rights to anything about that land, even from an “Arab” perspective. There is only one nation-state-government that Israel could legitimately make a joint agreement with concerning Judea & Samaria/West Bank. That would be Jordan. But not Saudi Arabia, not any Gulf State, not Egypt, Syria or anyone else.

I hate these Middle East deals that somehow keep Israel from the land that is rightfully theirs.
*******
Some Israeli sites now say it is temporarily on hold.

Israelis call themselves “Israelis” after their homeland.

Arabs call themselves “Arab” after their homeland.

It kind of lets you know where each group came from.

The biggest threat to Israel currently are Persian converts to Islam. They all tend to forget that their own holy book declares that the land of Israel belongs to the Jews.

Media lead story tonight; Trump brings peace to The Middle East, but we can’t believe him.

You don't yet understand the media.

The headline will be:

TRUMP DECIMATES WEAPONS AND ARMS INDUSTRY
Adam Schiff calls for impeachment hearings

Peace between Israel and UAE. Well I guess that’s just one more thing RINO’s like Bill Kristol will have to add to their list of things they used to support but no longer do.

Therein lies the rub.

Probably none, but Israel has those nukes to protect those who have Iran on their backs.

CBS This morning started their news by saying Trump brought up the whole non-citizen controversy at his presser, they forgot to say a nasty reporter actually started it. Then after 15 minutes they took 5 seconds to announce this landmark deal with ho hum

How is this any of our business?

When the U.S. pressures Israel to give up land rights for some kind of semi-phony “peace agreement” with Israel’s enemies, OF COURSE it’s our business. WE are complicit in the agreement.

Look. First of all putting their land-rights on “hold” has nothing to do with the substantive purpose of this agreement which is to stand against Iran. So why is it in there? Because Israel’s enemies never give up on denying Israel their land. It is a bad agreement for Israel.

Secondly, there’s no announced time limit on this “hold”. Maybe a month maybe a decade. As time goes on, so people’s ideas change and Israel will have a hard time with this one. I’ll tell you this - if the Arabs have anything to say a bout it and apparently they do in this agreement, Israel will probably have to fight to get that land - all because of a bad agreement pushed by the U.S. and Jared who I don’t trust.
