Former Defense Secretary James Mattis told then-Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats that President Trump was “dangerous” and “unfit,” according to excerpts from Bob Woodward’s upcoming book “Rage.”
Mattis, who left the White House at the end of 2018 over differences on defense strategy with the president, warned Coats that “there may come a time when we have to take collective action” against Trump, according to excerpts of the Woodward book reported upon by The Washington Post,
The Post did not say if Woodward’s book clarified what kind of “collective action” Mattis was referencing.......

Dan Coates is a former RINO Senator from Indiana and certified deep state mandarin. In the 1990’s he and I attended the same church in Northern Virginia. He was undeniably a snake in the Trump woodpile as DNI.
I had the same thought. But Trump uses the controversy to sell his narrative. Mattis’ comments show his resistance to a US pull back from foreign wars. Sour grapes. Coates sided with the deep state and Brennan. So..
According to the article, Pence was responsible for bringing Coats into the DNI role. I had a brief association with Coats in the early 1990’s when we attended the same church. He seemed pretty slimy then and nothing in his public life has moderated my early opinion. Unlike many here, I have never gotten comfortable with Pence. The fact that Jeff Flake is one of his best friends and that he was a prime actor in having General Flynn fired have contributed to my distrust. He is running the Coronavirus Task Force and has given Fauci, Birx, Redfield and Hahn free reign in undermining Trump and the nations. Just my opinion - not trying to change anyone’s mind. I will not actively support him or Nikki Haley in 2023.
This all sounds like the rantings of self-important people who are used to having their way and never having their opinions shut down. They haven't worked with people like Trump - but should have, a long time ago.
Mattis is used to being a top dog in the military, with people jumping when he said jump. Suddenly it's Trump telling him when to jump.
So much of this is because Trump bruised the egos of self-important people.
Geriatrics now control politics because of advances in medicine and very reduced tobacco usage in general. Some of them still on the national stage are in mental decline themselves waiting for their bodies to catch up. So to someone who is in decline like you said others in that same state appear normal.
Mattis has been the biggest disappointment in this admin.
The entire globalist establishment that infiltrated the WH are the biggest disappointments to me.
