In the immediate wake of the jihadist attack against America on September 11, 2001, most Americans came together with a sense of unity and a desire for revenge. Only a handful of people Michael Moore, Ward Churchill, and Obama's Rev. Wright came out of the box with insults against America. Soon, though, Americans took two very different paths. On the conservative side were those who stood up for America; on the leftist side were those who attacked America. On this year's 9/11, we can clearly see the binary choice Americans have going forward.
As part of the White House's September 11 ceremonies, President Trump presented the Medal of Honor to Army sergeant major Thomas "Patrick" Payne, who was 17 when he watched the Twin Towers collapse. When you read about Payne's life choices, even before he engaged in the acts that led to the Medal of Honor, you realize that he is one of America's best:

I said this back in 1971 as a conservative HS senior and I say it now to all the liberals/progressives/marxists. Go set up your perfect community (I don’t demand a city or State) and show it to me, then we can start to talk. Most of these folks can’t even get a commune of more than 6 people to work. Oh well...God bless Sargent Major Payne. A real hero!
I just took a look at the battle sketch for the mission. Sometimes, you just have to do what’s needed. SgtMaj Payne and his team darn sure did.
Recipient.
Lord, Please Bless and keep Safe our Women, Men and their Families of Americas Military. Amen
Horrible headline, you dont win the Medal of Honor, you earn it through risking your life above and beyond the call of duty. Meaning that you did something that will likely kill you and no one would have ordered you to do.
I was not going to pick that nit but since you did I’ll join you. Recipient.
It is never a game or competition to do the right thing. Instead it is a matter of principal, integrity, self-sacrifice and such but never a game or competition to be won.
You are right. Persons awarded The Medal of Honor are simply called “recipients.” Using the term “winner,” in wrong. It is not a contest, it is an honor recognizing bravery, usually in the face of death, “above and Beyond the call of Duty,” although 193 medals were awarded to “Non Combatants.”
There is a wonderful CMOH museum that can be visited in Charleston, SC, located on the Navy Carrier “Yorktown” at Patriot’s Point.
Been there, the whole Patriots Point complex is very well done.
God bless this brave soldier!
The name is a bit unfortunate though, it adds an air of silliness to the conversation.
Sgt Major Payne....you just know there has to be a guy named Major Woody somewhere.....
