Do we know what the net change from 2016 is?
nice! I was going to do a summary on Sunday but no need.
Yes. Go to John Couvillion’s twitter link and he also posts 2016 vs. 2020.

I always have these questions about registrations which I hope someone can tackle:
1. What percentage of new registrations actually vote?
2. What percentage of new registrations actually vote for the party for which they recently registered?
3. How are these percentages referred to in questions 1 and 2 actually estimated?
Whoa. What is the deal with California? Will clearly go for Biden but didnt expect to see more GOP registration
These efforts should be done in battleground states, obviously, but in every state - even the reddest of red states - because the latter can change. Look at Virginia, for example. Not so long ago solid red. Now, the opposite. The Dems are trying to flip Texas. Don’t even take a state like Alabama for granted...keep going!
If this election is tight and Biden loses by a whisker, his campaign’s decision to eschew door-to-door canvassing to register voters will go down in history as one of the dumbest decisions ever made by a campaign, probably second only to Hillary not campaigning in the Rust Belt. As your numbers and others have shown, Biden’s campaign basically gave Trump 100K or more extra votes in states that were close in 2016 by not actively registering voters.

I know nothing about California—except that the women are hot, there are a lot of beta males in LA, and Democrats have destroyed it—but John Couvillion viewed these numbers as a disappointment for Democrats. This could effect 4 or 5 house races.
It takes a strong ground game and enthusiasm to get newly registered voters to actual cast ballots.
Last week when Trump had a rally in Middletown, PA, the state GOP Chair spoke before the rally began. She said that the campaign had over a million door knocks to date. I forget the number of campaign volunteers, but it was staggering. Mind you, this is just in PA. That's a strong ground game.
If you watch any Trump rally you see the enthusiasm. The campaign surveys rally attendees. Again, I don't recall actual numbers (maybe someone has them and can post). However, there is a large percentage of first-time voters and non-recent voters at the rallies. Additionally, there is a sizable number of Democrats and independents at attend the rallies. This is not a one rally occurrence. It happens at all the rallies.
Just trying to be optimistic.

I hope and believe that most Republican voters are determined to vote no matter what.
Unknown to me but my guess is the vast majority of new registrations vote. This is what helped Obama win FL in 08 were the new Democrats. People leading up to a General election will most certainly register for the party they intend to vote for. Before a primary this might be different
I saw or heard somewhere recently that California - lost cause though it may be - actually has more Republicans than any other state. Unfortunately, with such a large population, there are just more idiots (i.e.Dems) as well. Regardless, I hope some of those new registrations will help us recoup some of the congressional seats that were lost in 2018.

This place has turned into a cesspool.
5-6 is pretty significant.
I wouldn’t be surprised. There was a long period of time where the whole state was red but with very dark blue circles in the cities. I think it’s generally gotten more blue since then but who knows.
