Veterans call out Greenfield for ignoring Ernst’s military service ( Iowa )

Military veterans are calling on Democratic U.S. candidate Theresa Greenfield to take down a television ad they say demeans Sen. Joni Ernst’s 23 years in the Army Reserves and National Guard.

In the ad, Greenfield says she’s proud of her son, Dane, who recently re-enlisted in the Army for another six years.

“And that’s why I’m running for the Senate because it’s time we have a senator who serves the people instead of the corporate interests who fund their campaigns,” Greenfield says.

For Kipp Lenth of Pleasant Hill and other veterans, Greenfield’s ad “shamelessly dismisses the service record of our fellow veteran.”

“God bless her son. I appreciate his service,” said Lenth, who retired as a major after 20 years in the Army and National Guard. “But she kind of implied that Joni wasn’t serving.”

Lenth and 20 others signed a letter telling Greenfield they were “appalled” by the ad.

“To suggest that Lt. Col. Ernst, after 23 years in uniform and in combat, has not served our nation is not only an insult to her, but it is an insult to each and every one of us and everyone who has ever worn the uniform themselves,” they wrote.

Greenfield’s campaign defended the commercial, pointing to the second half of the statement that Iowans needs a senator who will put their interests ahead of “corporate interests.” <> Snip ...

Ernst, however, argues Greenfield is benefiting from “nearly $100 million worth of dark money spending ... coming directly from Big Pharma and Big Oil executives and lobbyists.”

The ad struck Lenth, who served with Ernst, as “tone deaf.”

“I understand politics gets ugly,” he said. “It’s sad that’s where we’re at, but that’s where we’re at.”

I am in Iowa and it is obvious that Greenfirld has extremely wealthy billionaires financing her campaign,as there is one Greenfield ad after another running. Greenfield says in her untruthful ads that she takes not one penny from corporate interests. I do not believe her. The money is coming from somewhere.

Most are asleep. Greenfield sounds like one nasty bitch. It’s going to take years to get the stench of that Stalinazi pig Harkin out of that seat Ernst now occupies.

Her ad might be a justification for Iowanians to elect her son, but I don’t see how his service speaks to her patriotism.

I think Ernst will hang on to the seat, but man the Democrats have sure raised a lot of money in the last few weeks.

Does Greenfield support Biden’s plan of farmers putting their land in government controlled “land banks”? Also the government providing funding for minority ownership and operating farm land?

Yes. And Hugo Chavez used such tactics and Venezuelan middle class is eating out of dumpsters
MyGerman mother worked on one of those “land banks” during WW2

If her ads are being produced and paid for by a PAC, then she is legally claiming that she is not taking money from corporations.. Everything is very messed up with our campaigns.

“Her ad might be a justification for Iowanians to elect her son, but I don’t see how his service speaks to her patriotism.”

Tommy Tuberville in Alabama is running a 60 second ad that is almost entirely about his father serving in WW2. Now, that’s great that his father served, but a 60 something year old running on his father’s record just doesn’t seem to be effective to me. My father did two tours in Korea and two in Vietnam. I served 20 years in the Navy. I doubt that would get me many votes if I ran for the senate. He is, for me, going to be a major hold your nose and vote for him l

She’s a Democrat and hides her real plans. Republicans need to do a better job of tarring and feathering ALL Democrats with their very dangerous Green New Deal, which calls for the elimination of cattle.

Her campaign signs are everywhere in Des Moines. The delusion is strong there.

I can’t imagine Trump or Ernst will lose Iowa but this would be the top contender for a hypothetical seat 51 for a rat takeover.

Greenfield is running non-stop ads on TV, 2 or 3 in a row during every break. I can’t stand it. They are all lies! She has no intention of working with Republicans. Who are the former law enforcement guys who are doing ads for her claiming she is against the violence?

According to an Iowa guy’s blog, Greenfield is getting big bucks from pro-abortion PACs. Ernst is going to get $500,000 from pro-life groups, but I wonder if that is close to what Greenfield is getting.

I can’t believe the race is even close. Greenfield is a leftist and a liar.

Are outside PACs paying for the ads?

This is from the blog of a Christian conservative in Iowa:

Iowa is one of several battleground states in the Democrat efforts to retake the U.S. Senate majority. Ernst has trailed her Democratic opponent, Theresa Greenfield, by two to three points according to three of the last four polls, well within the margin of error. The latest poll by WHO-TV 13 is showing Greenfield up by 12 points is an outlier. Most political analysts consider this race to be a toss-up.

According to Open Secrets, tens of millions of dollars, over $83 million, has been spent by outside groups in Iowa’s U.S. Senate race. The pro-abortion groups have spent millions of dollars opposing Ernst. NARAL has spent over $150,000, Planned Parenthood Votes Super PAC over $13,000, and Women Vote!, a pro-abortion Super PAC, spent over $5 million.

Greenfield’s largest direct contributor is Emily’s List, a group that supports female, pro-abortion candidates, has contributed $248,711 as of June 30.
