The IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism Index, a leading national poll on consumer confidence, revealed dramatic increases in positive sentiment this month, rising from 45.0 to 55.2 (22.7%) overall. This brings the index back into positive territory for the first time in seven months. For the IBD/TIPP indexes, a reading below 50.0 indicates pessimism.
Weve seen some interesting swings in consumer sentiment throughout the pandemic, but October revealed the biggest gains by far, said Ed Carson, IBD's news editor.
The IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism Index has established a strong track record of foreshadowing the confidence indicators issued later each month by the University of Michigan and The Conference Board. IBD/TIPP surveyed 1,300 adults, including 1,221 registered voters, from September 30 to October 1. Due to COVID-19, the poll was conducted online using TechnoMetricas network of online panels to provide the sample.

And yet the rat Nate Silver tells us that Hiden has a 16 pt lead? BS!!!
Trump’s fault!
Excellent point.
I’m not sure how they will ramp up COVID mania again, but I am sure they will find a way.
Supposedly the economy is of the most importance to the voters and yet the more it improves the farther behind Trump falls in the polls.
Sumpin’ ain’t right.
This poll has no place in the sea of negativity that has become the national polls.
Mainly because the RED STATES are OPEN FOR BUSINESS, and those of us stuck in blue states are defying our Socialist Democrat Governors, Mayors and local CouncilRats and getting on with our lives! :)
Fauci has already tried it with his 400,000 may die crap today.
This is GREAT news as was the Trafalgar (right spelling?) poll!!!
There were a number of folks worried about the most recent rasmussen poll.
Guess what? I was one of them.
This other news DELIGHTS ME to no end!!!!
There are not 15,000 concern trolls on the board, like I said in another thread.
We are real human beings with real emotions and real fears.
Trump must win or it’s over.
So forgive folks like me if we slip with a poll that sounds a little whiny...we get terrified for a second even though we ALL KNOW polls are everywhere with Trump and hillary was UP 15 points at this time in 2016!!
But we are not robots.
We have emotions.
I would give a kidney to ensure Trump’s win.
So though there are a few folks who just like to be miserable...that VAST majority are just terrified of the possibly of Trump losing.
And he won’t.
He will win.
We will all vote.
But every now and then..we are going to falter and let our human flaws get the best of us.
Doesn’t mean anything more than that.
Trump!!
So, they are going with more of the same. I expect a really nasty October Surprise in the next couple of weeks. This one looks to have run its course.
As it is claimed all politics are local, so is the economy. Upstate South Carolina economic activity is improving, yet tourist areas of SC are still lagging from the contagion shutdowns.
Calm is the word especially when information warfare is being used against us.
L8r
Im not sure how they will ramp up COVID mania again, but I am sure they will find a way.
They don't have to do anything; Trump's COVID diagnosis pushed COVID to the front of people's minds already.
I know.
I’m just not a very calm person :)
But I don’t want to bring the board OR myself down.
So I think “hillary up 15 percent”...”polls mean nothing when it comes to Trump”...”lies are being spouted everywhere so you can’t trust any numbers really”
Then I breathe deeply.
Folks like you are just naturally the way you are.
It’s a great thing.
Some of us have to try really hard :(
have a good one FRiend
Sumpin aint right.
You bet. And that sumpin' is the pollsters give us the scenario they'd like to have rather than the actual facts. If the polls had been accurate in 2016, we'd be looking at President Killary now.
True, but the virus failed to do anything to an overweight 74 year old man who eats junk food all the time.
