Public health authorities in California have unveiled a “Blueprint for a Safer Economy” that requires counties to meet new “health equity metrics” in order to emerge from the current Covid-19 lockdowns. It’s a broad experiment in social justice. Under the plan, counties must reduce “disparities in levels of transmission” in “low-income, Black, Latino, [and] Pacific Islander” communities before they can move forward with reopening. In effect, local businesses must remain closed until local bureaucrats are satisfied that ill-defined racial quotas have been met.
The underlying assumption of the blueprint is that race-based coronavirus disparities are the result of “systemic racism,” despite zero evidence that the state’s coronavirus policies have been discriminatory. The plan ignores potential differences in culture, behavior, and underlying health, resting instead on the premise that racism is the driving force behind every disparate outcome. The blueprint also subverts the democratic process. Unelected public health officials are restricting essential freedoms, including mobility, worship, and economic activity, without deliberation by the state legislature or the possibility of review or appeal.
Unfortunately, the California blueprint is just part of a broader pattern of state governments using public health as a rationale for seizing power. Throughout the pandemic, blue-state politicians have appealed to science as justification for long-term economic lockdowns, mask mandates, and other emergency measures, regardless of whether these policies have been sanctioned by state legislatures or voters. Science becomes the highest authority; citizens must obey.

House arrest, ummm, I mean stay-at-home quarantines, for these groups so the white supremacists can’t infect them?
I mean, you could make the whites, East Asians and South Asians stay home, but I doubt that would decrease infections in the other communities.
I pretty much keep to myself nowadays, so I can’t say definitely for myself, but my friends and family who live in the more “diverse” areas say no one wears masks or social distance. When you ask why, they say it’s all a ploy to get them out of the country. I’m in health care, so I do have 1st hand knowledge, it’s not a hoax, but I do believe that the numbers here in CA are fudged
At some point it will become ubiquitous. Every political decision will be evaluated by plugging a bunch of bogus numbers into a bogus model which will approve or deny (bless or damn) the decision. The "scientists" who control the models will control society and eventually every individual.
It's amazing how quickly this is happening. Nobody seems to understand that science is amoral. To use an overused example, many scientists were Nazis and the regime elevated science. That was not an abberation or just quackery, Germany was at the forefront of science in the 1930's.

Many young adults without families and with marketable skills were thriving with the Gig economy.
My wife bought me a new wool shirt for Christmas, and a young 30 something Guy helped us. He had a great sense of humor and told good clean jokes. Every once in a while he would break out singing with a great voice.
I suggested that he should be in entertainment. Turned out that he worked Gigs singing or telling jokes at local clubs/bars/restaurants. His day job was the shirt store.
He was concerned about Californicators’ new laws forcing him to go full time instead gigging it.
That has become even more complicated or impossible with the Covid 19 harassment rules.

Not relevant. This is a nation of 330 million people. NONE of the facilities that were ginned up for this hoax was actually needed. They languished and we’re dismantled. Hoax.

I live in deep fly over country. The only time I wear a mask now is when I go to the dentist (just got back) or the doctor’s office (seldom ever go).
The rest of the time nobody cares if I wear a mask. The only people wearing masks are those with very serious respiratory issues or immune compromised conditions.
Open spaces and sunshine and fresh air is a very powerful medicine. And people seem to be realizing it. We are slowly seeing a number of people from out of state that are moving here. (could be mixed bag, but so far, no problems)
The woman in charge of the shutdowns here in Los Angeles County (population 10 million plus) is not even a doctor. She’s a community organizer from Boston with a degree in Social Welfare. She’s keeping everything locked down here indefinitely all by her lonesome, with zero accountability.
