I used to think that once your mind starts to waver, it’s time to remove your right to vote. However, then only those congegant enough to see the lies of the left and still vote conservative would be the ones losing their right, and the dementia and Alzheimer patients would be the only ones still voting.

The only way to fix the problem is for us citizens to go to the nursing home and be sure their vote is not being manipulated. Unfortunately, we send our elderly into those homes, to get rid of them. Not always, but 90% of the time.

We used to take care of our own, as they took care of us when we were children.

Like many things we have abdicated our responsibility. So blame the elderly all you want, but the truth is we need to start doing what is our responsibility and stop thinking they are a bother too us.

My grandparents died in the house with my aunt, my stepfather died at home with Mom caring for him, and my Mom was cared for any my brother. three of my wife’s grandparents also died at home. it’s time we take responsibility and stop allowing them to be used just so we can be free of the responsibility.

So don;’t be so quick to blame those we refused to care for.

I'm not "blaming those we refused to care for." I'm commenting on the notion you floated and that it is unlikely in regard to the reality that nursing homes and the elderly are typically fertile ground for Dem votes as they are more easily cowed by fear. Certainly that tendency toward fear could be accentuated by the present institutional way we deal with the elderly, but, like your choice of garish colors. . . that would be another topic.

Just curious....

How many people in nursing home memory care units are “diagnosed” with “confirmed alzhiemers?”

Because that can only be positively diagnosed at autopsy.

And, many folks diagnosed with early or mid staged dementia can be pretty cogent right up to the end.

Having gone through this six times as the POA or Guardian, I can assure you that ALL six knew who I was, knew where they were, and could tell you who was President up until the last week they were alive.

While I am not a clinician, I probably have more clinical experience with dementia than most first year residents.

A lot of people “think” they know about it...they know their singular experience. Unless its been in your home—for years—multiple times...you probably don’t have a broad understanding.
