Britain's main opposition Labour party has suspended its former leader Jeremy Corbyn, in a stunning development that followed the release of a damning report by the UK's human rights watchdog.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) on Thursday identified "serious failings" with how Labour dealt with anti-Semitism in the party during Corbyn's time as leader.
Corbyn responded to the report by saying that while he condemned anti-Semites, the scale of the problem under his leadership had been "dramatically overstated for political reasons."
Those comments drew a swift and dramatic response from the party. "In light of (Corbyn's) comments made today and his failure to retract them subsequently, the Labour Party has suspended Jeremy Corbyn pending investigation. He has also had the whip removed from the Parliamentary Labour Party," a party spokesperson said.
The decision rocked the British political world: Less than a year ago, at the December 2019 general election, Corbyn was bidding to be Prime Minister.
Corbyn said he would "strongly contest" the decision to suspend him.

So what happens when Sadiq Khan becomes Labour Leader?
About time.
Muzzies will run rampant through the streets.
Free Rotherham group kiddie parties for all muslim converts.
The Democrat Party here has some of the same issues.
I still don't understand why Corbyn didn't go full Muslime and insist this invest was "meant to drive an anti-immigration policy that puts Labour on a par with the Tories.".
But Corbyn is that rare miscreant who is anti-semite and anti-mooselime, which makes him useless as ___s on a boar to Labour.
This puts Boris in the driver's seat for the length of Trump's 2nd term if not longer, unless we all get into it with China.
The chances of that happening are rather more remote than a 'cure' for Covid-19. Khan is nowhere in the current Labour heirarchy. To become a candidate for the leadership he'd first need to be reelected as an MP, and even finding a constituency to select him would be tough. The national political significance of the London mayoralty is consistently overestimated on this forum.
Not gonna happen.
NOW they figure it out?
Not a chance - Sadiq isn’t in line for Labour leadership — and Labour has a top notch leader right now giving it to BoJo in parliament
Ken was MP before becoming the first Mayor of Greater London in 2000 to 2008. He hasn’t had any electoral success after that.
