Mids Set to Make First Trip to West Point Since 1943
USNA Football ^ | 12/07/2020 | Navy News Release

Posted on 12/08/2020 5:00:25 PM PST by UB355

Setting the Stage • Army and Navy will meet in the greatest rivalry in all of sports on Saturday at Michie Stadium (38,000) in West Point for the 121st playing of America's Game, the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA. CBS Sports will televise the game nationally with kickoff set for 3:00 pm. • Navy leads the all-time series against Army 61-52-7 (.534), including a 3-0 mark in games played at West Point. • Saturday's game will be the first Army-Navy game played at a home site since 1943, due to World War II, when Navy won at West Point 13-0. Navy also won the 1942 game in Annapolis 14-0. • If Navy defeats Army and Army beats Air Force the following week, the Mids will retain the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy. The three schools have not gone 1-1 against each other since 1993 when Air Force retained the trophy (Navy beat Air Force, Air Force beat Army, Army beat Navy). A win by Navy would also make it two straight and 16 out of the last 19 for the Mids over Army. • In the previous 48 years the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy has been on the line, only four times has there been a tie (1974 retained by Navy, 1976 retained by Navy, 1980 retained by Navy and 1993 retained by Air Force).

“There are quite a few USAFA grads here on FR, thanks for your service!”

Thanks to you also. Loved the school and the AF was very very good to me. Hope the same for you.

Yup, retired in lieu of early promotion. (Was going to have to go to the Pentagon.) Got to do lots of stuff - flying, grad schools, teaching. Post retirement career was just as much fun, thanks to a good start at Uncle Sam’s School for Wayward Boys and Girls.

DD a 1/C at USNA said they were leaving at O’God thirty which sounds like they will be there early enough to have a march on. It’s only 4 hours from the Yard to WP.

It’s a beautiful campus and a nice sized stadium. The forecast is for a high of 54. I expect it will be so much better than the recent games in Philly.

Congrats on your Grand-daughter. My daughter is a Firstie and is driving to the game and bringing a few other upperclassmen. Plebes are probably restricted to the buses. It’s a great event.

My granddaughter played hockey in high school. She got to pin the captain of the women’s hockey team with her service pin. She is on glee club and was not able to join the hockey team.

Sail Navy down the field

DD joined the No sports Glee Club during Plebe summer. Not a quitter she stuck it out and joined the Softball team the next year. Joining the Aviation community after commissioning.
