How is it the US has jurisdiction in the Lockerbie case?? - just curious!

The majority of the victimes were Americans:

Monday is the 32nd anniversary of the bombing which killed a total of 270 people, including 190 Americans and 11 people on the ground.

Geographically it wasn’t in their jurisdiction. But many of the victims were United States citizens.

The Scottish had overall jurisdiction, but our interests were represented because it involved a U.S. flagged carrier, and most of the passengers were Americans.
