This and the sequel are favorites of my soon to be four year old grandson. Mom (our daughter) has lost count of the number of times he's watched them.

The cameo appearance of President Trump in the first one is kind of cool.

For me nothing beats A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim.

So we waited, paid our dues, received a knowing nod of approval from dad, and speed-walked downstairs to the “rec room,” which had the television, the VCR, and the only kid-friendly VHS tape my grandparents had in stock: “Home Alone.”

Man, how old am I.... I have seen VCRs and video cassettes come and go. Not to mention laserdiscs.... and even to a large extent DVDs and BluRays.... And movies I have seen in theaters (remember theaters?) are now showing on TCM....

It was an ok movie. I never thought of it as a Christmas classic, even though it takes place at Christmastime.

I was very disappointed in Home Alone 2, Lost in New York. It was simply the same plot again. And the willing suspension of disbelief needed, such as a little kid checking into a hotel with his dad’s credit card, was a bit too much to believe.

Not a fan. I found Mac to be annoying as hell, and the movie to be very violent for a children’s movie, although the sequel was even more violent.

How fitting is the title, when many people out there will be
just that this year, being forbidden to meet with family or
friends?

Nowhere near as good as National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Randy Quaid at his best.

“Merry Christmas! Sh*tter was full!”

Anyone watch “We’re no Angels”? No, not that one, I’m talking about the one with Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov, and Aldo Ray. My favorite Christmas movie.

And there’s always “Gift of the Magi.” Jeanne Crain and Farley Granger version:

Yeah but is the original “Die Hard” considered a “Christmas” movie?
