I will give up when President Trump gives up, and not a millisecond before.
pence is perhaps the last great hope for avoiding some kind of violence.
however, the stakes are very high, and everyone knows that pence could screw up years of planning and execution by the democrats.
i cannot easily imagine pence resisting an opportunity to bloviate like he does in nearly every speech he has given as VP so far.
i imagine it would be very easy for mcconnell and pelosi to arrange to turn off his mic if he hints at declaring any part of the election fraudulent.
so, imho pence could just prepare a single sentence delivering the result first. any explanation would be subject to lawsuit so cut all of that out of any speech.
if they cut the PA in mid sentence, pence needs to prepare a single slide showing the election votes are disputed and so no count can be given. he also should have a deadman switch statement ready to release to congress and the press by his aides if he is dragged off the podium or some violence occurs.
i cannot imagine pence not stopping for something such as a prayer or a reminisce of some sunday school lesson he learned while growing up on a corn farm somewhere. pence for once should just say what he needs to say and then shut up.

I’ve always been on the fence regarding Pence — on the “Pence Fence”, I guess.
I’m leaning toward him helping us when/if he’s able to because I believe he’s an actual Christian, as opposed to a “small-C” christian, who cares about ethics, morals, murdering babies, etc. He knows Trump is more likely to uphold those values than Biden is. If he can, and does, make a decision it will be for Trump; it will have to be. Pence could very well be the understated hero in this whole situation. We shall see ...

A big 'if'. What happens on December 23rd is a check to make sure all the states have submitted their certificates and results. If any state is missing then they contact the Office of Official Registrar at the National Archives to get a replacement copy - states submit a minimum of seven copies and a maximum of nine to both Congress and the Archives. All they are doing is making sure the results are in. Neither Pence or anyone else is approving the submissions.
