A federal judge on Friday dismissed a bid by Rep. Louie Gohmert (Texas) and other Republicans that sought to endow Vice President Pence with the legal authority to effectively overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral win.
In his ruling, Texas-based U.S. District Judge Jeremy Kernodle, a Trump appointee, said the GOP plaintiffs lacked standing. The judge found that Gohmert suffered no legally recognizable injury.
The other plaintiffs, a group of Arizona Republicans who self-identify as an alternate “slate” of pro-Trump electors, could not link their supposed injury to Pence, he reasoned.

When President Trump chose him for his running mate, I commented that Pence was a member in good standing of our corrupt political class, and would one day stab him in the back.
Looks like that day has come.

The GOP will never reform as long as good portion of the base continue their delusions about people like Pence. Why would they? The GOP has fully supported the coup and now steal yet still the dimmest bulbs in the GOP base still blow sunshine up you know where. Sad, really. Lives were destroyed due to GOP support of the coup. Yet much of the base lines up in support and pledges to reelect these Quislings yet again.
Or like Thomas Jefferson in the election of 1800 when he was VP and President of the Senate during a contingent election, and then almost miraculously became President. It was clear that the certification of the Georgia electors was defective, but Jefferson immediately counted the votes for himself and awarded himself the Presidency.
This is not the first contested Presidental election in this country. Look it up!

If everyone has standing, then no one has standing (Google "generalized grievance doctrine"). The theory is that, if something affects everyone equally, then the elected branches can deal with it and the courts should stay out.
Besides which, Gohmert was not suing to set aside any electoral votes based on election fraud; his claim was that VP Pence has the sole power under the Constitution to decide which electoral votes to count (President Gore wishes he knew that back in 2001).
