Simon & Schuster drops publication of book by Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley after he objects to certifying Joe Biden's election

A planned book by Sen. Josh Hawley, who objected to President-elect Joe Biden’s win and backed baseless claims that the election was stolen, has been canceled by its publisher in the wake of the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by a mob of pro-Trump supporters, a decision the Missouri Republican called “Orwellian” and vowed to fight in court.

In a statement Thursday, Simon & Schuster announced that “After witnessing the disturbing, deadly insurrection that took place on Wednesday in Washington, D.C, Simon & Schuster has decided to cancel publication of Senator Josh Hawley’s forthcoming book, ‘The Tyranny of Big Tech.’

“We did not come to this decision lightly,” the publisher added. “As a publisher it will always be our mission to amplify a variety of voices and viewpoints: at the same time we take seriously our larger public responsibility as citizens, and cannot support Senator Hawley after his role in what became a dangerous threat to our democracy and freedom.”

Thousands of Trump supporters had gathered in Washington on Wednesday to protest Congress’ formal certification of Biden’s win and many ended up storming into the Capitol and occupying it for hours, delaying the process into early Thursday morning. A widely seen photo, taken before the occupation, shows Hawley raising a fist in solidarity to the crowd.

Hawley has often been cited as possible future presidential candidate and his book, scheduled to come out in June, was an intended forum for a favorite theme — the undue power of Google, Facebook and other internet giants. Soon after news broke that his book was dropped, Hawley tweeted, and tagged his comments directly to Simon & Schuster, that he was being unfairly censored and punished

The publishing industry is a joke. They so much money, much more than they pay authors. Plus licensing to Amazon and book distributors. They are raking in cash. It’s an elitist, insular environment.

If Hillary Clinton made a million dollars from her book, the publisher made a lot more. But if you are a commodity (like Clinton) you’ll get a huge advance. If a book doesn’t sell, authors usually have to pay back the difference from the advance....unless you are a commodity.

It’s rare for unknown authors to get an advance these days. Your profit comes in the form of royalties.

I had to look it up (Carly Simon). Horrible. I kept reading, hoping it’d get better. Some redeeming aspect to her. It got worse with every paragraph. Typical lefty hypocrite, Clinton fan, Trump basher, etc.

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2019/oct/31/carly-simon-on-turning-down-donald-trump-i-thought-he-was-kind-of-repulsive

Not recommending anyone read it, just for the record, that’s what I read. Ick factor: 90+.

Simon and Schuster have a dream. They want to emulate the CCP and censor and cancel everything they hate. Now that Joe Biden is President elect they may attempt to send Josh Hawley to a re-education camp.

This is happening not only to Josh Hawley, but also Terrence K. Williams who has been a staunch voice for Donald Trump as he blasted the left for their insanity.

From his parler account:

RealTerrenceKWilliams:

This is absolutely disgusting. Book stores are now turning me away. They don’t want my book on their shelves because I’m a Trump Supporter and what happened at the Capitol

My book “From The Foster House To The White House is about the American Dream” but because I met Trump my story of survival don’t matter and can’t be at the book store.

YOU CAN GET THE BOOK DIRECTLY FROM ME! Link in BIO

It's a direct assault on the First Amendment

Someone please take Hawley aside, sit him down, and explain that the First Amendment protects our right of free speech from the government, and not from businesses who have the right to print or not print whatever they want?

Mr. Hawley should publish it privately. Sidney Powell did exactly that with her book.
