- 6 AM cutoff, rather than 9 AM.
- No longer reporting doses delivered for Nursing Homes (probably fully stocked)
- No longer reporting the total with just the 1st dose. Now it is the total vaccinated - with either 1st or 2nd doses.
From the day prior:
533K doses delivered (a worryingly slow day, but a short day, because of the report cutoff change)
How many shots actually administered? I'm not sure because of the reporting re-baseline. Start tracking again tomorrow. It looks like it might have been at least 1.13 million shots administered, which would have been the biggest day yet. That is possible with the growth that has been occurring, and the new policies that are opening availability to 65 year olds.
160K shots in Nursing Homes - biggest day yet, by 10K.
That’s a huge number, for a vaccine that hasn’t even been approved; only authorized for emergency use.
It’s more about taming the fear than about eliminating the virus.
Too many businesses, non-profits, and Governors have been putting life on “pause” “UNTIL THERE IS A VACCINE”.
Well, you could subtract the Number of People Receiving 2 Doses (1.6M) from the Number of People Receiving 1 or More Doses:(10.6M) to get those who have only received the 1st dose (9.0M).
Seems like they are unnecessarily complicating it. Just report People with First Dose, People with Second Dose and total people vaccinated.
“That’s a huge number”
I’d guess that we will climb to two million or more per day at some point.
The J&J vaccine should join the fray in a few weeks, and be producing full scale in March.
well, Howdy neighbor! you gotta be another Pennsylvanian.
Add 1 for myself today, dose 1
How many here believe there has been deliberate “farting around” with the distribution and administering of this vaccine to ensure
a. As much death as possible to pin on Trump
b. A sudden surge in administering of shots after January 20 to give credit to Biden
c. Or just plain ole government incompetence
neighbors? Well, maybe a bit down I-95. “Gay State” = Bay State (the state nickname of Massachusetts). But I feel your pain...your Governor is proud to be a Rat,ours is a cocktail party Republican...if you catch my drift.
Name became especially fitting after Benedict Romney caved to the Mass-hole Supreme Court and demanded that legislature legalize gay "marriage"
Many places are not disbursing quickly and they are trying to push it forward.
Sadly, they are pushing other people instead of focusing on the vulnerable elderly.
So ridiculous.
It took all most 3 hours to get through the phone hold to my HMO to ask for the vaccination, since I’m over 80 years old and a few critical diseases.
One friend got through in 2 hours, a neighbor in 2.5 hours, 2 hours and 45 minutes for me and another friend took 3 hours to get through the hold.
We got an email that being over 65, we would be eligible for the Pfizer vaccination. We had a special 800 # to call.
There were several questions asked to weed out the non eligible.
Basically, we are all grandparents, and we want to be able to hold our family and hug them. They are scared to get near us and give us the ChiCom crud.
Also, as more senior citizens sign up and get the vaccine, that should ease the horrible restrictions on our younger Americans.
Thanks for the data.
Yes to all of your items in Blue states like California ruled by Fidel Che Gruesome.
This is the one time where it appears he listened to the good doctors with the exception of vaccinating the prisoners.
Add 1 for myself today, dose 1!
Are you still alive and haven’t grown a second head or had an arm fall off?

The same website linked with this thread, has an interactive map, that allows you to compare how individual States are doing.
West Virginia has been about the best, neighboring Virginia has been on of the worst.
There can be big differences from one County to the next as well. More places will get their act together as time goes on.
After Democrats have secured power, we might see policy in Democrat controlled areas further open up access to vaccines, and the press to start singing a happy new tune on COVID.

I have been hearing from many Freepers who have received vaccine. None reported serious side effects. One reported that a friend from church developed Bell’s Palsy (face drooping), but that is a rare temporary effect of many vaccines.
Although the times for the vaccine studies were not long, the numbers participating were large. Now that 11 million have been vaccinated in just the USA, the numbers are huge, to identify any serious side effects (reporting is mandatory for those who administer vaccine). So far, its looking very good (safe).

Congratulations! Did you get an appointment?
Immunity takes a while to develop after getting the first shot. The first week after the first shot, there is not so much protection, but it grows strongly after that.
A week after the second shot though, protection against getting the disease is about 95%, and protection against getting a severe/life threatening case is nearly 100%.
