Do people, who are intent on committing a crime, ever get a license for anything?

This is just to scare Hams and show the FCCs support for the new regime.

Naturally, all HAM operators are predisposed to committing crimes /sarc.

Actually, probably in the eyes of the untrusting government we are all likely to break the law. We cannot be trusted with freedom and liberty.

I’ve been a Ham Operator since 1976, hold an Amateur Extra and a Commercial radio license. Also ran a Navy/Marine Corp MARS station out of my home for 19 years.

Hams are the best emergency communication systems in time of disaster. I don’t know a single Ham Operator that is a criminal.

This is the dumbest -warning- I have ever read.

Here is what you need to be aware of, the source:

Rosemary Harold

Rosemary C. Harold is Chief of the Enforcement Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission, where she leads the Commission’s largest organizational unit, including its field offices around the country. Ms. Harold rejoins the agency from Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP, where she was a partner. Prior to joining the firm in 2011, Ms. Harold was a legal advisor to then-FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell for media and broadband issues and deputy chief of the FCC’s Media Bureau. She began her career as a journalist, working as a reporter and bureau chief for the Miami Herald and an editor at C-SPAN. She earned her law degree magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, her master’s degree from the University of Missouri, and her bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary.

What they are referring to are the almost daily posts asking how Ham Radio operators can keep people connected.

This has been happening all over the net.

It was also pretty clear people were using the little 5 watt 2 meter radios during the Capitol event on the 6th.

The FCC isn’t going to “stop” anything, except maybe repeaters. I don’t think any operator is going to announce their call sign every ten minutes. If they are engaging in that...and they state their call sign, they are too stupid to trust with a radio.

I’ve often wondered why it’s illegal to encrypt conversations on public radio frequencies but not illegal on the public telephone network, cell phone network or the public internet

Everyone better be careful what you say, no matter where you say it. Say the wrong thing, the government will come for you.

Of course they don’t and there are plenty of bootleggers on the amateur radio bands already. The FCC has zero intent of finding and shutting them. If they really intended to clean up the amateur radio bands, they’d be bolstering the enforcement mechanism. instead they decide that they’re going to create a volunteer organization with the ARRL and think that will solve the problem. It will not. The FCC is nothing more than a paper tiger at this point. I wonder why I even bothered to study and get my license 15 years ago.

The FCC itself IS a crime and an absolutely unconstitutional Federal Government Bureaucracy threatening and dampening our God-given freedoms of speech and communication outside of anything Necessary and Proper that the Constitution allows.

Our greatest threat to our country, freedoms, and wellbeing, is none other than the $3+ trillion unconstitutional portion of the federal government, which BTW IS THE SWAMP AKA THE DEEP STATE. (Everybody around here decries the Swamp and the Deep State and nobody defines them. Well I just did.)

DIMNANTLE THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL PORTION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BEFORE THEY DISMANTLE YOU!!!!

Some of the hams are probably disposed to commit the crime of free speech.

Translation: “Censor yourself so that the incoming government won’t have to.”

It is now a crime to exercise your first amendment rights.

The Bill of Rights is now a dead letter.

why does the FCC let, permit, allow, encourage
NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS to lie every day.

Every day.

Every single day.

The FCC claims authority -— as it gives permits/licenses
both station and to individuals who ARE
KNOWN criminals, seditionists, and child rapists
to continue acts against the US Constitution.

The reason that the FCC leaders are alarmed?

They intend to do total suppression of communications from Trump Supporters. (which is totally illegal, under the 1st Amendment)

So they are alarmed Trump Supporters could possibly continue to communicate?

Of Course. This is not about US, it is About THEM. They know what their intent is.

I saw this coming, as I warned on a thread to Ham Radio folks not to trust it as an alternative to e-mail or social media for confidential communications. Even encrypted VPN’s can be hacked.

Paranoia strikes deep,
into your life it will creep.
Starts when you’re always afraid,
step out of line, the man comes and takes you away.

A legitimately elected administration would not need all these precautions and warnings.
