Unfortunately the Republican governor up here is more like a traditional old-school Democrat. I can easily see him being pressured into appointing a Dem rather than a Repub if Leahy’s seat needs to be filled.
He’s only popular because he’s an utter milquetoast.
Any Republican he might appoint would be much like Collins of Maine, if he didn’t appoint a Dem.
