Newsmax Host Storms Out Mid-Interview after Guest Insists Election was Stolen
National Review ^ | 2/2/21 | Mairead McArdle

Posted on 02/02/2021 4:57:18 PM PST by DoodleDawg

A Newsmax anchor walked off the air in the middle of an interview after the show’s guest continued to insist that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

Newsmax invited Mike Lindell, founder and chief executive of My Pillow, to discuss Twitter’s decision to shut down the corporate MyPillow account after Lindell used it to tweet allegations about election fraud over the weekend. Lindell’s personal account was previously suspended permanently last week after Lindell, a close ally of former President Trump, posted similar claims about voter fraud.

“Well, first mine was taken down because we have all the election fraud with these Dominion machines. We have 100 percent proof, and then when they took it down — ” Lindell began in the interview before he was interrupted by host Bob Sellers.

“Mike, you’re talking about machines,” Sellers cut in. “We at Newsmax have not been able to verify any of those kinds of allegations. We just want to let people know that there’s nothing substantive that we’ve seen.”

Threats of billion dollar lawsuits have a way of making media companies leery of repeating the Dominion claims.

Bill Clinton
The Palm Beach Post interview also noted that Ruddy, disenchanted by the war and runaway federal spending under Bush, re-evaluated the Clinton years and offered a kinder view of the administration he once criticized.[citation needed] Compared with his reporting during Bill Clinton’s presidency, Ruddy eventually took a more subdued view to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. He said she had moderated and no longer generated the same animosity among conservatives. Ruddy told The New York Times he and Scaife had changed their views: “Both of us have had a rethinking. Clinton wasn’t such a bad president. In fact, he was a pretty good president in a lot of ways, and Dick feels that way today.”[33]

In the fall of 2007, Ruddy published a positive interview with former president Clinton on Newsmax.com, followed by a positive cover story in Newsmax magazine. The New York Times said with reference to the event that politics had made “strange bedfellows.”[34]

Newsweek reported Ruddy praised Clinton for his foundation’s global work, and explained that the interview, as well as a private lunch he and Scaife had had with Clinton (which Ruddy says was orchestrated by Ed Koch), were due to the shared view of himself and Scaife that Clinton was doing important work representing the U.S. globally while America was the target of criticism. He also said that he and Scaife had never suggested Clinton was involved in Foster’s death, nor had they spread allegations about Bill Clinton’s sex scandals, although their work may have encouraged others.[35] Ruddy and Scaife again met Clinton for lunch at his office in September 2008. “We had a great time with him,” Ruddy said of the meeting. He added, “We consider Bill Clinton a friend and he considers us friends.”[36] Forbes indicated the relationship between Ruddy and Clinton has continued and described them as “lunch chums.”[37]

During a 2010 campaign swing through Florida, President Clinton departed from his schedule to make a visit to Newsmax’s offices in West Palm Beach. After a private meeting with Ruddy, Clinton toured Newsmax’s offices and met with its staff.[38]

A May 2009 Sunday magazine profile in The New York Times on the former president, “The Mellowing of William Jefferson Clinton,” offered more details of the relationship between Ruddy and Clinton. The Arkansas Times said details about the friendship between Ruddy and Clinton in The New York Times profile was the “most amazing revelation” of their profile of the former president. Ruddy told the Times though he remained a “Reagan conservative”, he had re-evaluated the Clinton presidency and suggested he had earned high marks as president for success in ending welfare, keeping government in check, and supporting free trade. Ruddy also noted that the Clinton Foundation was doing remarkable work globally.[39]

In July 2012, Ruddy was a member of the official delegation that accompanied President Clinton on his five-nation tour of Africa, reviewing Clinton Foundation initiatives in the area of health care, HIV/AIDS programs, education, and poverty alleviation.[40]

During the delegation’s visit to Maputo, Mozambique, Ruddy blogged for the Clinton Foundation website, “The Clinton Foundation demonstrates that public-private partnerships and strategic engagement of private citizens, community members, and local governments can achieve great results in health care. And as I saw firsthand today in Mozambique, this work is innovative in its scope and in its purpose – which is to ensure governments can own and maintain their own health care systems without further reliance on aid. I applaud the Clinton Foundation for bringing together groups and individuals from all sides of the political spectrum to build a world that’s more equal, more sustainable, and that benefits us all.”[40]

It was this promising conservative news site but they cowered to their sponsors who told them never to mention it again.

I guess we’re down to one legitimate news channel, OANN!!!

Just wonder if OANN will survive 2021, with pressure applied on carriers to take them off the air.

And yet, I cannot watch OANN very long without having to switch stations, as they constantly have images of our fraudulent WH occupant on my screen.

I hope, btw, that President Trump heeds the urging of Steve Bannon’s War Room to come to D.C. next week to lead his team’s impeachment defense. Steve, Jack Posobiec and Raheem Kassam suggested that PDJT use his Washington hotel as a HQ, They also agreed that we demoralized MAGA deplorables NEED to a boost from our Commander-in-Chief!!

This was a terrible way to handle an interview and Rudy Giuliani seems to have no problem suing Dominion when they threatened to sue him as he is getting discovery now

This is scary. It’s like the highest levels of gov have a strong-arm on ALL these networks.

Don’t dare allow any such thing to be said, or....what? FCC license gone?

Why are they so touchy about this allegation? Never before has any network seemed to automatically shut down any contrary view with a qualifier like “we remind you that ——- doesn’t believe this story and there is no evidence....”

I have NEVER seen this kind of nonsense before. All over YouTube, too, to remind you every time something mentions Trump or Biden, that Biden won the election.

Whatever you think of election conspiracy stories, you have to admit this reaction is beyon the pale.

Mike is correct! The election was stolen....why else would Nancy Pelosi have a 10’ fence and concertina wire put up over night by whom? at taxpayer’s expense keeping Americans at bay...she even wanted machine-guns in the hands of soldiers...she was turned down. Nancy knows the evidence of fraud will eventually turn up in court...in front of a jury. She is politically and legally terrified.

We saw Sellers go ballistic one other time when a guest mentioned election fraud. He made such a fool of himself that I ALMOST felt sorry for him.

That’s when we stopped watching Newsmax.

He may be the reason Newmax’s numbers drop as quickly as Fox’s did. I hope so. Ruddy once said that Hillary would make a wonderful president. Blecccch. So we know where they’re coming from.

“We at Newsmax have not been able to verify any of those kinds of allegations. We just want to let people know that there’s nothing substantive that we’ve seen.”

So Lindell is only permitted to say things that have been fact-checked by Newsmax?

Was the same standard used by Newsmax for Russiagate allegations?
