What exactly do you believe the Utilities could have done to prevent this?

Don't buy into the liberal crap that windmills freezing caused this problem. They don't winterize plants down here as they do in the north preparing mainly for the brutal summers. They are not allowed to charge the consumer for winterizing either. This will be an opportunity to raise rates for the next event that may not happen for 30 years.

This is an AP article. They love to bash Texas. It may wake people up to wind and solar being okay as supplements to a good coal burning power plant. Abbott needs to address what he can. The Texas Governor is not as powerful as say the Governor of NY or CA with one party rule. What exactly could he do within his powers to change regulations? I am asking because before I cast dispersions I would like to know the answer to that.

Yes, it was. Talking out of both sides of his mouth, doing damage control like he didn’t have anything to do with it.

Rick Perry on TV last night blathering about needing a “diverse” energy infrastructure.

Webster's hasn't caught on yet, but "diverse" apparently means worthless and unproductive these days.

Do you have a source for that? Per a report on this morning’s news the CEO of ERCOT is in Texas and his home is currently without power.

Yep. People have no idea how incredibly dangerous it is to screw with our energy. It took over 100 years to set up the system we have today to deliver all the food and supplies needed to keep 330 million people going, tens of MILLIONS of trucks need to be running 24/7 and these idiots think that all can be replaced in the snap of a finger especially without ANY viable plan to replace the gas/diesel engine.

Try to imagine this scenario: All oil based fuel is banned or restricted by the neo-Marxists. AOC jumps for joy being the brainless twit she is.

1st day that news comes out that food deliveries will be restricted, people will rush to their grocery store cleaning it out leaving others with nothing. Look what happened with just the Covid virus. After a week those people will be starving. If somehow more food is delivered to that grocery store, it again will be emptied in a day from panic and starvation will continue. Animals like cats, dogs, squirrels will disappear. After only 3 weeks people start dying, after a month mass death from starvation happens. But hey! At least we will have less CO2 which is needed to do what? Produce food!

wind and solar being okay as supplements to a good coal burning power plant.

If I have a good coal burning plant, why do I need overpriced and purely redundant wind and solar? Having them when they aren't needed (when in fact the price of electricity is negative) is economically pointless. They become a vanity accessory like Tesla parked in a five car garage.

Pellet stoves that require AC are a fail.

The urban centers of TX look very third world-ish. We are under a tsunami of demographics here that are on the precipice of dominating the state. Texas is at very high risk of being lost soon. 100% due to mass immigration and all the dirtbags from California.

It will depend. Does Texas have a lot of the Wind Turbines that froze. If Abbott uses a natural disaster he has no control over to push for greater energy independence, he will not be blamed. This is a natural disaster no different than a hurricane or tornado. A strong response to a once in a 100 year event will deflect any blame. A tepid response and Abbott is done. He did not create the storm and the state does not own the power companies. But he will own the response to a natural disaster.
......
Did the oil refinery workers - whom there must be millions - vote for the politicians who put these Don Quijote windmills in place??? How did this happen? I don’t get it.

I just watched a movie last night called “Greenland” and...it was scary, because the human behavior portrayed in it is so believable.

Abbott and Perry are the reason the state closed coal and switched to T Boone Pickens windmills. He doesn’t get to use the disaster he helped create. He is so busy showing how woke he is that he has screwed the state. He and Perry are too busy trying to move California in and they are destroying the state.

Nothing like a hopper fed coal stove that doesn’t need AC and you have a ton or two of coal on premises. That is a very warm and fuzzy.
