A Kitchenaid mixer won’t draw any current unless it’s on, so unplugging it does nothing to save energy. So that tweet is kind of stupid. I can see a DeWalt battery charger or something like that drawing a small amount of current all the time, but not a mixer! Sheesh.
That doesn’t excuse them from mismanaging the grid. A battery charger isn’t going to be responsible for rolling blackouts.
FYI, Mr. ERCOT, my (wife’s) Kitchenaid mixer was not bought during the fake pandemic. We’ve had it for 30 years. Still runs like new.
Some folks have no understanding of electricity. I still sometimes hear of someone claiming it takes more electricity to turn a light off and back on than it will use in an hour left on. I don’t know how such absurdities ever got started but some people still believe them.
