It’s how it’s supposed to work nitwit.
You don’t represent your constituents, you get cancelled.
Thune and his fellow conspirators are the ones that practiced cancel culture on Trump
and now is coming back to bite them on the ass.
“There was a strong case made,”
Nope. Unless you mean a strong case of Democrat sourpuss stompy-foot temper tantrum. Every Republican who voted against Trump should be shunned.
Isn’t that how you spell it?
Time to investigate Thune and family's campaign contributions, income and finances.
You’ve got to be kidding. This is how we ended up here in the first place. No more nose-holding. If that means losing the seat for a few cycles, so be it. It’s a tactical retreat that will force the GOP on the right path.
Trying to cancel a good and brave man; turning your back on him as he suffers merciless persecution; is that part of the strategy of supporting “electible” candidates?
People see this and understand persecution. It is glaringly obvious. Who is going to vote for that other than a few deluded donors?
Good distinction. My point is that casual conversation is full of these sorts of labels that have widely variable meaning.
"Hold them accountable" vis-a-vis Comey, Strzok, and others ranged from "lock them up" to "expose the truth." The meaning of "accountable" was deliberately vague so as to avoid discussion. Graham would say "we'll hold them accountable," and his meaning was ... who knows?
Same with cancel culture. Some [people think that being kicked off Twitter is enough to justify a claim of being canceled. Others, your definition for example, say cancellation occurs when your life is ruined, but not when you are fired to appease a mob.
"Rule of law" is another code phrase with variable meaning. Rarely is the actual "rule" involved in the discussion. That's too much like work.
Yes we are and you will be cancelled.
Politicians being voted out of office for the votes they cast is not “cancel culture.”
With Cancel Culture your family loses their entire lives, as well.
Agreed. I think Thune is choosing those words because conservatives tend to detest Cancel Culture as a bridge too far. He is hoping to draw sympathy, but I will keep my definition of hold them accountable.
Sen. John Thune, a top ally to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, said that those aiming to punish senators who voted to convict former President Donald Trump at his impeachment trial are engaging in “cancel culture.”
Cancel Culture is something different. It’s not about a voting booth.
Hey, Thune: weren’t Perdue and Loeffler some of McConnell’s establishment picks? How did they fare?
McConnell picks candidates whose only principles are promoting the interests of big donors. If the candidate is a conservative running against a corrupt establishment crony, McConnell will butcher the conservative.
So, you can stop the fake “cancel” talk, Thune. No one is buying your jive.
Well, pay attention Thune. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
WTF are you talking abouth, Thune? Pull your head out.
Trump and Trump supporters weren’t the backstabbers John. Thanks for revealing yourself as another turncoat who needs to go away.
If you wait until November 2022, that means Derper Thune gets replaced by a Demonrat. Primary him first so he’s not on that November ballot.
Thune: "those aiming to punish senators who voted to convict former President Donald Trump at his impeachment trial are engaging in "cancel culture."
-Thune insults everyone's intelligence, saying that opposing the traitors who attacked President Trump and conspired with Democrats to violate the Constitution with a fraudulent impeachment is the same as the Left's "cancel culture".
-Also, President Trump is the current President, fraudulent election notwithstanding.
Thune: "There was a strong case made."
-This is a lie. There was NO case and the impeachment was unconstitional.
-What "strong case" calls NO witnesses?
-Notice the passive voice; "a case was made". Why does he not say who made the case?
Thune: "if Republicans run a lot of candidates closely-aligned with the former president then they may end up sacrificing winnable seats."
-Again, President Trump is the current President, fraudulent election notwithstanding.
-There is no "sacrificing" winnable seats - the Republican half of the Uniparty colluded with the Democrat half to give them up.
Thune: "At the grassroots level, there’s a lot of people who want to see Trump-like candidates,"
-It's not at the "grassroots" level - it was nationwide and at the highest level as evidenced by the votes for President Trump in 2020.
-These aren't "Trump-like" candidates people want, it was President Trump himself and the Republicans stabbed him (and us) in the back.
Thune: "I think we’re going to be looking for candidates that are electable."
-this inference that candidates like President Trump are not electable spits in the face of everyone who knows that President Trump won in a massive landslide. How dare Thune lie, saying such candidates are unelectable?
-President Trump dragged some decrepit RINOs across their election line, including McConnell himself, and Thune has the gall to pretend the RINOs are electable?
-Thune confirmed they don't have their candidates already since they're "going to be looking for candidates". They will once again trash those that don't toe the party line - citizens be damned.
Tyler Olsen of FOX: "Many Republicans are still upset after Tea Party-backed candidates won elections during former President Barack Obama's first term, only to lose what some felt were otherwise winnable seats in the general election."
-Who are these "some" who "felt otherwise winnable seats" were lost in the general election? TEA Party candidates won despite attacks from the Republicans. The Republicans vilified their own candidate Sarah Palin.
This propaganda shows the Republicans are worried about money and about people walking away. Their abuse victims are supposed to just sit there and take it.
The Uniparty cannot afford to have people walk away and seek answers outside of government.
Thunge, only a moron lambasts those responsible for helping him stay where he is, to include Trump and Trump supporters. That is a very large majority of the GOP base. Truth is, idiot McConnell CANCELLED HIMSELF. The rest of us just piled on.
