The Soviets in their atheistic glory weren’t eager to see what the next world has in store for them. Twelver Islam by contrast believes that their Mahdi will return during an apocalyptic war to convert the entire world to Islam.
Saudi Arabia pales by comparison. They might cut off your thieving hand or stone your fornicating girlfriend to death but they won’t cheerfully light the world on fire in a fit of religious zeal.
