On 30 May 2020, a gunfight ensued at Sunset Village Mobile Home Park in Hiawatha, Iowa. In the end, one person was dead, three others were wounded, and 25 shots had been fired. The gunfight happened at the intersection of Sunset Lane and Wright Drive, a little before high noon.
The trouble started when Selena Straka, who was living in the trailer park with her sister, her brother-in-law, and her boyfriend, Tyler Bell, told her sister she had been walking in the trailer park, alone, when she was attacked by two unknown men. The brother-in-law started looking for the attackers, but no police were called.
Selena called her boyfriend, Tyler Bell, and told him about the attack. Tyler was with his twin brother, Terrone Bell. Terrone Bell has a carry permit, which is required to legally carry a handgun in public in Iowa.
Tyler did not have a permit. Terrone had two handguns. The two brothers decided to travel to the trailer park. When they arrived, they parked on Sunset Lane. It was a fateful decision. The gunbattle would occur very close to where Terrone Bell’s car was parked. Terrone loaned Tyler one of his handguns, a 9mm Hi-point.
The twins talked to Selena’s brother-in-law about the attack. The brother-in-law returned home; the twins, Terrone and Tyler, decided to look for the attackers.
One of the twins was seen loading a handgun and tucking it into his waistband. The two started to walk through the trailer park, yelling words to the effect “they were gonna get somebody”. The combination of a visible gun with threatening shouts was to have deadly consequences.
Tyler reached his vehicle, parked at the residence he shared with Selena, and her sister and brother-in-law, at 76 Joanne Lane. He may have realized it was illegal for him

Trailer park trash Gunfight at the OK Corral!
Drinking and women can lead to bad results.
btt
Man, this sounds like a five-star movie script.
I worked in a large hospital’s ER for years. At least 90% of the gun shot wounds, stab wounds and other types of physical assault we saw involved alcohol and/or drugs somewhere in the equation.
Anyone showing up at the hospital with those attributes today are IMMEDIATELY diagnosed as covid positive FIRST AND FOREMOST. Gunshot wound second
😁
Never bring a drunk to a gun fight.
The High Point is not unreliable.......
It is a roughly machined heavy chunk of steel that reliably goes bang with each trigger pull....
It is large, heavy and unwieldy compared to most modern handguns but not unreliable....
One of the most famous was Ben Thompson along the Texas-Mexico border.
He killed a lot of people while drunk.
Tombstone, Iowa...
a drunk man prevents an armed (if foolish) man from leaving, and then punched him in the face... said drunk man winds up dead.
Not sure where you get that. Hi Points tend to malfunction at very high rates. It’s a very cheap handgun. Will it throw a slug? Yes. But I haven’t seen any review of that gun where folks putting rounds through one that didn’t at least have 1 malfunction every 20 rounds or less.
They are highly unreliable, but cheap, guns.
Hi-Point quality has increased significantly in the past few years.

I wonder, was it Tequila ?
That Mescal stuff puts me right up there, LOL.
I was sparring partner with a black belt in martial arts for about 2 years. Yes, I got my ass kicked a few times. But learned to hold my own pretty quick. Didn’t have a lot of options actually...keep up or keep getting stomped.
One of the first things he taught me was that your objective is to avoid a fight if at all possible. Walk away, talk your way out of it, if you leave without a punch being thrown, that is your greatest victory.
Second but no less important, was to never brag about knowing martial arts, some butthead will always show up itching to try his luck.
Sounds like that was probably the biggest mistake here, some idiot stomping around a trailer park advertising he was armed. Somebody got pissed off and decided to try his luck, bad idea when you’re too drunk to drive. But alcohol makes people do some pretty stupid things. I got on a skateboard one night, first time ever, after a dozen shots of tequila. Yes, the holly bushes in the hedge at the bottom of the hill won.
Not sure what to think of this story. From what the article says, I can’t say I can actually blame anyone, but its a really bad idea to punch a guy with a gun though...equally bad idea to run around announcing youre armed.
I’ve very rarely had to use the self defense tactics I learned, but if IHad run around bragging about it I would have been in fights every time I turned around. The only couple of times I’ve had to, it was either to stop a fight I was not involved in, or in defense of someone else. The idea is your adversary should not know a thing about your abilities until its too late and his ass is already kicked. It only takes a few seconds. Those long, drawn out staged fights in movies are laughable. Anyone who actually knows some self defense will end it in 5 seconds or less.
Same here, this shootout probably would never have happened if these two had just kept their mouths shut and their eyes open. Instead, somebody was drunk and thought he was 10 feet tall and bulletproof, stupidity ensued. That’s the one thing alcohol guarantees, somebody will do something stupid. Fortunately the one with a carry permit was not drunk. Liberals would really have a field day with that one...
Don’t own a Hi Point , never have.......
When it comes to gun reviews I like Hickok.....
His review is they are ugly, cheaply made but reliable.....
