Why Isn't Everyone in Florida Dead or in the Hospital?-As usual, leftist ideas fail miserably
Frontpagemagazine ^ | Mar 29, 2021 | Wayne Allyn Root

I hate to say I told you so. But I told you so.

I'm one of the few brave souls in the American media who warned and advised from day one (back in early March 2020) not to lock down the American people or the economy.

I argued the following:

I warned that the only way to fight COVID and pay for COVID was to keep the economy open and healthy. And to keep Americans employed.

Don't look now, but I was 100% right.

Florida is exhibit A. Everyone needs to know the Florida story.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis should be America's Hero Governor. He stood strong in the face of massive pressure to close the state, close the economy, lock down the people and order mask mandates. He refused. He kept Florida open for business.

Now look at the amazing results. Florida's economy is booming. People are happy. Quality of life is high. And very few are sick. It worked!

Even though Florida has been wide open (without masks) for almost a year now, even though the state has millions of retired senior citizens, it still has less deaths and hospitalizations right now than most of the know-it-all liberal states that are locked down and run by authoritarian Democratic governors. Florida's numbers are better than those of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Illinois.

All this and the people of Florida kept their businesses open, kept their jobs, kept their kids in school and kept living normal lives.

My friends own restaurants in Florida. Restaurants and bars are jammed. No one is wearing masks. They tell me that not only are the customers healthy; all their employees are healthy.

How is this possible? How can Florida be thriving and prospering and healthier while California and New York have been shut down the entire time, with businesses dead, jobs gone, schools closed and kids not leaning a thing?

The answer is simple. Democratic governors blew it. They made all the wrong decisions. No lockdowns were ever needed. Nor were they ever constitutional. No jobs should have been lost.

This was all a travesty, a tragedy, a farse. With lockdowns, people still get sick; you can't stop a germ. But they do succeed at three things: destroying the economy, destroying quality of life and, ironically, making more people sick and die due to the stress, loneliness, depression and poverty the lockdowns produced.

Lockdowns prove the solution is often worse than the virus.

The only answer is freedom and individual choice. Let Americans choose whether to keep their businesses open, go to work or wear masks.

As usual, government was wrong. Government made things much worse. As usual, liberal Democratic ideas failed miserably. Lockdowns are perhaps the worst mistake in America's history. Case closed.

Because it's not a New York nursing home.

Well, not exactly.

And FL has a very high population of what is a very vulnerable group, the elderly.

Proof that NOT locking down was the way to go.

Also, Florida is south of the critical 37° North latitude. As such, Floridians get enough “natural” Vitamin D from Sun exposure almost year round. Note that outside of the over-65 population, Floridians are way less susceptible to most winter viruses.

Not quite true. We locked down hard from April 1st to May 1st. Rest is true. Restaurants are packed. Masks are up to person whether to wear or not. Our population is lucky in that over 20 percent are over 65. And they are vaccinated and you don’t tell a boomer they can’t live life after getting the shot. The entire mindset changed the minute they got the second shot. Party time!!!!! I’m getting the shot tomorrow as I’m Gen X and had to wait some.

Here in Ohio, as the numbers continue to go down, DeWine is very anxious about losing his total control over the people’s lives. And to make things worse, many in Ohio believe the numbers are going down because masks saved the day.

I am not taking the vaccine, and the people around me regard me as some sort of lunatic. I may be a lunatic, but not taking the vaccine isn’t what makes me one.

The first video on the page with Dr. Carrie Madej might influence your decision to take the vaccine. Or which one to take.

Well, it has now been two weeks since Gov. Grabbit lifted the mask mandate in Texas...so I figure some time today we will have thousands just drop dead in the streets due to COVID-19!

I mean the lowest hospitalization rate since the start of COVID data collection is just a blip or some awkward, weird outlier because OBVIOUSLY, we Neanderthals can’t comprehend the subtle deadliness of a virus with a 98+% survivability rate!!

It’s been remarkably successful. They killed a booming economy and managed to steal an election in order to maintain their grip on power to rule over a formerly free people. A great many people are still walking around wearing a mask, some wearing two, fully convinced death is imminent with a single breath of fresh air. Fauci’s wisdom and experience are above reproach, and all white people are vehemently racist unless they are woke or queer. It is only fair to allow trannys into high positions in the government and military. Border? What border?

I could go on, but what would be the point? At least they don’t make mean Tweets.

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=florida+lifts+restrictions&t=h_&ia=web

This article is a bit of exaggeration. You can’t lift restrictions that were never imposed. September was not a year ago. It’s also absurd to suggest contagious diseases spread just as fast if people come into less close contact with other people...Mr. Root is getting a bit carried away with some hyperbole.

But still the point does remain - Florida imposed restrictions designed to mitigate the spread of the virus - not just shut everything down. The state was much better managed, more educated, etc. People used their common sense, took voluntary actions, etc. And a big one is that no orders were issued putting COVID19 patients into nursing homes. Florida’s vaccination rollout is a model for the nation.

Bottom line: competent leadership and management make a huge difference.

Nope-

As usual leftist ideas won.

People across the country are/were afraid, the mask is the symbol of compliance and most everyone wears it. The economy was shut down and Trumps biggest advantage was taken away from him going into the elections, Biden is President today.

Covid was/is 70% political and 30% disease.

They accomplished what they wanted, how is that failure?

I have long time friends who moved to Florida from Long Island, NY. They tell me that “EVERYONE in Florida hates Governor DeSantis.” She and her family were vaccinated months ago. They go to Disney World every other weekend. They go to restaurants regularly and shop daily. What is there to hate? DeSantis is a Republican and Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg don’t like him. Stupidity is contagious.

Um no.

Nonsense.
That is not true even in deep blue, harsh lockdowns New York City. In red states like South Dakota, its totally false.

Compare the treatment the DeSantis received vs Cuomo from the media complex - in a fair world, DeSantis would have received the hero treatment that Cuomo received from the media, it just goes to show you how deep the group think is by every facet of the media and also what we are up against; the truth has no room and given no quarter in the great reset.

“This article is a bit of exaggeration. “

Yes, the article is exaggerated to the point I rated it as Fear Porn.

Florida manage the outbreak with common sense. New York Governor help boost the death rate in attempt to make Trump look bad. They did not use the resources the US government sent them.

“Florida imposed restrictions designed to mitigate the spread of the virus - not just shut everything down. Another note: the third wave will come from uncontrolled illegal migration that the current puppet in the Whitehouse encourage and ignited. They will blame the third wave on the Florida and Texas governor.

Until two days ago, my county in Southern Oregon was in total lockdown, restaurants closed, gyms closed, small business' closed. Everyone is wearing a mask, you cannot go into any store without a mask, OSHA is on the spot in every store threatening store owners with permanent closures and fines.

Even now 2 days into the reluctant opening, the Governor is considering a dictate to make masks permanent, like forever. No shopping or living anywhere in Oregon without a mask, even a year from now.

Florida has a lot of old people. Old people get priority on vaccinations.

Here on the San Francisco Peninsula, I’d guess 99.9% of people are still wearing masks. Outdoors, on sidewalks, in their cars, on bicycles, on trails, walking to the mailbox, at the dog park. The lack of common sense and inability to think for oneself is just laughable. They are all convinced that the air is full of poisonous COVID gas and they will instantly drop dead without a mask.

The real funny thing is the unmasked people seated at outdoor tables at restaurants along Main Street. They are within inches of other diners, not one wearing a mask. Somehow the adjoining sidewalk inches away is dangerous and you must wear a mask there, but the dining tables are safe havens from the virus. As soon as you leave the ultra-dangerous sidewalk and enter the safe-zone dining area, you can safely drop the mask.

I think the lack of critical thinking capability is perhaps the most worrisome thing about this.

None of this has anything to do with real science. It has everything to do with political science.

Liberals' solutions make problems worse in every single case in recorded history. Remember "never let a crisis go to waste"? They think that big government is omnipotent when in fact, free, intelligent individuals are.

I live in Florida and have never worn a mask, social distanced or locked down. I travel and move about doing my regular routine all through this "pandemic". Nobody has ever stopped me or told me otherwise. This goes for my wife too.

We're both in our mid-70s and have never lived our lives according to what some democRATic politician or bureaucrat has told us to do.

We both have medical backgrounds and know that masks don't work to stop viruses and locking people down in their homes should only be for sick people, not healthy ones. It only makes matters worse.

There may be some luck of the draw in living in a nice climate but it is the political climate that is most critical. We live in Florida by design because it is free from many oppressive government laws and regulations that stifle the economy and people's lives in particular.

Don't confuse natural vitamin "D" with the blue "D" of the democRATic party. That's where the difference really lies.
