Fifteen jurors, four of whom are Black and two of whom are multiracial, were chosen during a weeks-long jury selection process earlier this month.
The trial is expected to span two to four weeks at the heavily secured Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis, after which the jury will launch into deliberations. Judge Peter Cahill is limiting attendees in the courtroom due to COVID-19 concerns and is allowing for the proceedings to be televised, a rarity in the state.

Looking forward to burning Minneapolis to the ground!
Urban America is Democratic, lawless and unlivable. Who in their right mind thinks that justice will be served in this rump trial?
The jury will now hear that George Floyd was babbling “I can’t breathe” 5 minutes before he was put on the ground (at this request!) and while he was not being touched by the cops. This dumbass died b/c he swallowed fentanyl just before he was arrested. The cops were afraid that he was a danger to himself—that’s why they were on top of him. Floyd was 6’8” and the size of an NFL defensive lineman.
Not sure it will matter. Racist jurors who are afraid of going back to the “community” after an acquittal will vote to convict. This case should have been moved outside of the Twin Cities.
The jury appears to reflect the demographics of Hennepin County. Both the prosecution of defense should be happy about that.
The move Officer Chauvin made on George Floyd is what the police are trained to do when an arrestee is in a state of “excited delirium”. Also, I’ve read that the cause of Georg Floyd’s death was Fentanyl overdose and not strangulation. I don’t see how any of the officers could be convicted, at least in a fair trial.

One of the local papers has already published a profile of each juror with sex, race, age and profession. They all must know they are one click away from being doxxed should they not return the correct verdict.
There’s going to be rioting either way. If it’s guilty that proves there’s systemic racism so riot. If it’s not guilty that proves there’s systemic racism so riot.
And every major urban area as well.
“Jury is made up of about half people of color”
IOW it doesn’t look anything like “Minnesota”.
Sounds like his defense team is terrible - they’re getting steamrolled, or just prepping for an appeal.
Mr. Floyd didn’t swallow fentanyl, he tells the cops as they lead him away from his van that he was hooping. This means he put the fentanyl up his rectum to get a quicker high by avoiding first pass metabolism. Life as a junkie is nasty, brutish and short.
It sounded like the attorney was warning, give us a conviction or else
The good news - George Floyd remains drug free.
Yep, just terrible.
BTTT
Don't you want a hung jury if you are Derek? They are probably going to state in the jury room "I don't care if Saint George was overdosed on fentanyl!! That copper is guilty as hell!!" All that is needed is one sane juror in the room to not bend to the will of the racist jurors!
Based on the first few minutes of opening statements, Chauvin is going down. This guy is convincing me he’s guilty.
Yeah, that’s another possible outcome.
What warps my mind is remembering the late ‘60s when the screaming about all white juries convicting black guys reached fever pitch, and they said that only black juries could hear cases involving black people.
Where is that notion in this jury?
Gone With the Wind.
And frankly, I don’t give a damn. They’re going into the streets no matter what happens.
Which is also fine by me. Let Biden and the Hoe try to deal with that.
This prosecutor is a scumbag showing the video at opening is showing biased. Ahole
Just watched the video. There ain’t no way Chauvin is not going to be convicted. Unless the defense puts on a hell of a defense, Chauvin is going to be spending the rest of his life in prison.
I think a totally white jury would find him guilty. Fentanyl or not.
