PGA Tour to Keep Tour Championship in Georgia Despite Outcry over Voter Law

The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) has issued its response to those demanding that they pull their Tour Championship from Georgia due to the state’s recently passed voter reform bill.

And their response is, they aren’t going anywhere.

In their statement, the PGA emphasized its commitment to the local businesses and charities that will benefit from the Tour Championship being played in Atlanta.

“The Tour Championship’s commitment to East Lake has helped our partners transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy and thriving ones, which is a key to ending the cycle of intergenerational poverty,” the statement read. “The charitable and economic benefits that have led to these substantial changes would not continue if we simply walked away from those in need.”

However, the PGA stressed that their decision not to move the event should not be construed as “indifference to the current conversation around voting rights.”

“The PGA Tour fully supports efforts to protect the right of all Americans to vote and to eliminate any barriers that may prevent citizens’ voices from being heard and counted,” the statement read. “It is the foundation of our great country and a critical national priority to listen to the concerns about voter suppression — especially from communities of color that have been marginalized in the past — and work together to make voting easier for all citizens.”

Aren’t they worried about losing all those black golfers that will protest the sport?

It could add to hundreds of dollars lost.

How many of them “woke golfers” can you see?
The PGA was never going to know tow to BLM intimidation and threats.
Remember when The Masters told the crazy far left to go take a jump some years back?

What “outcry”?

A bunch of Leftist Stalinists upset about a Voting Law that is more liberal than the one currently in place in New York?

The “press” always uses the word “outcry” in these situations to create the impression that there is mass public anger when the “outcry” is usually confined to the media, their sycophants and a few loudmouths in the public. I would bet that 90 percent of the American public could not care less about what the media is whining about here.

Until the wokenista pro golfers start dropping out.

Pro golfers are generally a conservative group. Surely as far as professional athletes go. Additionally, the Tour Championship is a big money event, and usually determines the Fed Ex Cup winner (which I believe is $10M), and is a limited field event in that only the top 30 players participate. So I don't think it will be an issue for the players.

No such animal - they are the conservative athletes.

Anyway, this is the FedEx cup championships with a $10 million first prize. I can guarantee all 30 will turn up. Even last place is something like $500K.

His chances of being among the 30 finalists are just about zilch. He may never play again.

Yes, but The Master's and the powers-that-be that run Augusta National are one thing, and the PGA is another. Still, I'm thinking the PGA is hoping this all blows over soon as the tournament is not till late September.

Let them drop out, and give them the opportunity to sit out
four other tournaments to get it out of their system.

It’s all virtue signaling unless they cancel the Masters at Augusta, but we all know that won’t happen.

The folks who run The Masters are part of the PGA.
Further, blacks and Latinos have very little power or influence in the PGA where most of the top players are White. The one great black golfer, Woods is about the least woke top black athlete I know.
There is no percentage in the PGA allowing themselves to be turned into puppets for the terrorist BLM.

FWIW, the PGA Tour doesn’t really have anything to do with the Masters, at least not from an organizing standpoint. It’s organized and contested absent any involvement from the PGA tour. In fact, I’m almost certain the Masters uses their own rules committee (made up of members, I believe) and on-course officials borrowed from the USGA and the Royal & Ancient.
