I work in the solar business

I climb on roofs as a part of the job every day

I can tell you that the $84 billion company I work for has serious trainings and equipment to prevent falls from happening

That being said I had no idea that many people a year get killed and falls

Anecdotally I hear about the homeowner falling off the roof now and then you get seriously hurt or killed

Drug overdose is by far the most common cause of preventable death. Actually quite more than all other preventable deaths together.
Then vehicle accidents.
Then, any other accidents.
Ladders are really deadly! Bidet should ban them! No excuse, you must pass safety class to own a ladder! Introduce ladder permits and ladder registration. Ladders should be sold only by federally licensed dealers. No private buys!
Even the gun deaths are mostly suicides.
People kill themselves with guns because it is convenient. Switzerland, where citizens are required to own a gun has even bigger rate of gun suicides.
But, in total suicided rate by any means, US and Switzerland are rather laggards.
