During Saturday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Smerconish,” Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-NY) decried GOP opposition to making the District of Columbia a U.S. state.
The New York State congressman called it “racist activity” to oppose the push and compared the population of Washington, D.C. to Vermont and Wyoming.

D.C. was carved out of Maryland and Virginia, most of Virginia’s area was returned to that state, Why don’t we just return the rest to Maryland? Easy solution.
The sooner we separate from these people the better. I pray it will be peaceful but assume it won’t.
You make the common mistake of taking a logical approach with people who are possessed by a cult. Recently I had to explain to my elderly mother how Sleepy Joe is a religious zealot. Hint - it has nothing to do with his pretend Catholicism.
Anything that interferes with the Commucrats’ plan for solidifying USSR-style single party rule in the US is racist.
If it was a real problem they could just give back the residential areas back to the surrounding states.

Citizens of Northern California should have their voices heard too. Why should they not get statehood? And what about northern New York? I’m sure a lot of these people would like statehood too.
Write the 4-line text and get your local state to simply pass the legislation....all non-federal property in the District....returned to Maryland. This shouldn’t take more than six weeks to get thirty states to approve this.

The “District of Columbia”, once carved out of Maryland and Virginia, is a concept, not a sacred piece of ground. Change the boundaries so the actual district only covers the grounds of the White House, the Supreme Court building, and the Capitol grounds, and the triangular piece of ground that connects all three. The rest is ceded back to Maryland, as “District County”, and the residents of Washington and Anacostia are then represented by a voting seat in Congress, and rewarded by being represented by what are almost always two Democrat Senators.
The Federal government then pays the state of Maryland what would be the fair market real estate taxes on the Federally owned land and appurtenances that lie within this District County, on a decreasing scale, beginning at 100% the first year, and decreasing at 10% a year until the tenth year, when the program is discontinued altogether.
The District of Columbia scarcely makes up a decent TOWNSHIP, anywhere else in the United States. It barely qualifies as being a county.

If it is just returned to Maryland, the Democrats won’t get two more Senators, which is their objective.
Again, if McConnell really gave a crap he would have proposed giving DC back to Maryland back in 2017. But he want to be in the permanent minority.
Because the GOP-e can’t be a minority party if they did that.
The best option, other than doing nothing.
