Iran’s Armed Forces chief Mohammad Bagheri on Sunday threatened to “teach Israel a very good lesson,” appearing to hint the Jewish state was behind a reported attack on an Iranian tanker off Syria’s coast over the weekend, but stopping short of blaming Jerusalem directly for the incident.
Bagheri told reporters: “We don’t announce anything about the incidents that happened recently, nor do we know who did it, but the Resistance Front will teach Israel a very good lesson,” according to several Iranian journalists.
“Israelis think they can keep hitting Syria and making mischievous moves elsewhere and in the seas and not receive any response,” said Bagheri, according to tweets by Iranian journalists Reza Khaasteh and Abas Aslani.

Scarlet pimpernel sez "sink me"
1987, the tanker war. Iran mined the Straits and sent missiles into tankers.
I remember seeing some of those huge tankers, with blackened holes in their sides where the missiles hit, waiting at anchor in Taiwan to be scrapped.
We don’t know who did it but we are going to teach
Israel a lesson...
It would be the last lesson Iran ever taught...
IMHO, the sooner, the better...
Let loose the dogs...
Go ahead, make my millenium!
It didn’t translate very well.
Perhaps they can teach the people of Israel the art of “Persian Rug Weaving”, or perhaps “Ethnic folk dance”. That is something they could do without worry of having strategic targets of theirs reduced to smoldering craters.
They have certainly taught Iran a lesson about foolishly thinking they were either immune from attack or exposure regarding any stealth operations they might have had in mind.

Lob a few more unaimed missiles onto Israeli land?
That’s going to end well for Iran.
They are trying to touch the apple of God’s eye.
Maybe they need to study the Six Day War again.
Why do these international thugs continue to pick on the smallest guy in the neighborhood. First it just shows how weak they are, particularly somce the smallest guy in the neighborhood is really smart and has lots of tricks that leave everyone laughing at the utterly stupid idiots running IRAN because they get a blood nose from their stupidity, EVERY SINGLE TIME. AND, if they ever really got close to being successful, their little corner of the universe goes up in a blinding flash of light.
General Ripper approves this message.
All hat and no camel.
Exactly
[snip] Iran’s Arabic-language al-Alam TV said there was some damage to an Iranian tanker but no casualties. But Iran’s Tasnim news agency, quoting “certain sources”, said: “The accident happened to another vessel... and is not linked to a ship carrying Iranian cargo”. [/snip]
