Economy adds 266K jobs in April, far below expectations

The U.S. economy added 266,000 jobs in April and the unemployment rate rose to 6.1 percent, an unexpectedly poor showing falling well below expectations.

The meager showing exposed unexpected gaps in a recovery that some economists were fretting would "overheat" by recovering too quickly.

"For those who feared the US economy would overheat, the bigger risk may be that it is undercooked," said The Atlantic Council's Josh Lipsky.

Far below expectations is the new talking point. Not unexpected anymore.

There are signs in every business begging people to apply. I heard McDonald’s will give you $50 to apply. (I am guessing you only get it after x amount of time as an employee.)

There might be more applicants if businesses did away with the stupid mask requirements.

IMO, we are headed for a Weimar Republican situation....

The jobs numbers will turn around as people start to go back to work, but so will really nasty inflation....

I think around 2022 maybe a little longer we will experience a full blown depression....with runaway inflation thrown in....

As inflation rises, even with $15/hour as minimum wage, it won’t keep up with food, housing, and other basic necessities....

Interest rates will have to surge, the stock market will tank, and unemployment will tank...

Who will buy new cars, houses, go on vacation, etc....no one will have any money to anything other than survive.

In the 70s there was stagflation. A malaise. For those who feared Biden might be Obama, no, he’s Carter. History’s Greatest Monster.

The resulting turnaround for American interest rests on the response to an inevitable economic collapse.

Hopefully we can talk about Trump economy again and how Joe Stolen stole our future.

We are on a path to break the fundamentals of our economy. In a few short months they are going to finish what Covid started. The left will use the rapid downturn to justify the stimulus so they can put another 4T in the pockets of their supporters.

It will not end well.

“There might be more applicants if businesses did away with the stupid mask requirements.”

Except where they were required by government, I think the mask requirements are a consequence of the always increasing push for companies to SEEM like “stakeholders” and “members of the community,” “green,” “progressive,” etc. As an employee I was required to use a percentage of my salary to buy bonds, and/or contribute to a company selected charity or bring in can goods, or collect aluminum, or paint poor people’s houses. The list was ever changing and ever increasing and designed for the company to present an image of what a wonderful member of the community they were. I can tell you that we employees mostly resented this forced charity. You can imagine the board members suddenly seeing a wonderful opportunity to further increase their community importance by forcing the wearing of masks. The purpose of a company is to provide a service or make/distribute a product. NOT to force its employees into some fake appearance of something those employees do not want to be a part of. This trend also applies to companies suddenly going WOKE.

As an investor, when they do that, I drop their stock...as, apparently do a majority of people, with few exceptions. I only discovered I owned JC Pennies when they went woke, so I looked. Sure enough, I had inherited shares. Sold! The same was true of Disney and Starbucks.

Next time you are in a business, look around for the virtue signaling signs telling you how they are keeping you safe by ordering their employees to wear masks. Try to write that one off your list as well. I consider this like my personal campaign to eliminate “Organic.” Next time you see a virtue signaling product labeled organic, substitute the word inorganic to see how ridiculous it is. Practically everything is “organic.” Originally, science believed in the spontaneous creation of life. Those substances that were thought to have this mysterious capability were labeled “organic.” Those that did not have the capacity to spontaneously generate life, stone, metal, glass, etc. were labeled “inorganic.”

Protest stupidity wherever you see it.

I think he’s far worse than Jimmy Carter....and under Carter we had gas lines and rationing....we lost an embassy in Tehran who took Americans hostage and we did nothing but attempt a botch rescue that had little to no chance of working....

Biden is dangerous because he’s so gone mentally, he only does what he’s told to do, the real decisions are made by Obama and his soldiers who are running things without having to face an election, they are dangerous and getting more and more reckless....
